リサボンは良い町だ。僕はここで町という言葉を使ったがリサボンはいくつもの町が集まってできた街なのでとても都市とか首都とかポルトガル帝国の要なんて言い方はできないくらいこじんまりとした町なのだ。僕にはリサボンは７２歳のくせに美容整形で無理に若返った女性だと思う。見た目はしわも少なく踊れと言われればパラパラでも踊りそうな感じなのだが本当はタンゴが似合う。むかし競い合って抱いてくれた男友達はみな海で魚になってしまった。彼女の大きな望みは過去を微笑みながら永く静かに眠る事なのだろう。アフリカで殺さずバタビアで強姦せず日本で布教せず、ただ永い長い眠りにつく。そして眠っている間だけ彼女は少女の顔になる。リサボンがどうして女だって？ 簡単な事。港町っていつも大きく脚を開いて疲れ果てて帰ってきた男の乗る船を迎え入れるものだから。それに港のすぐ上はいつも丘があってリサボンはちゃんと右と左にあります。もし時間があるなら日本が国交５００年記念にだか進呈した新しい水族館に行ってあのアクリルガラス張りの海底チューブを歩いてごらんなさい。これが何なのかはここでは書きませんけど。
Lisbon is a nice town. I use the word “ town” because Lisbon consists of many townships together even though she insists that she is a city/metropolis/capital of Portuguese empire, but for me she is 72 years old lady whose hobby is to undergo many plastic surgeries which makes her look younger than her age, but inside her mind is filled by great sorrow because all her guys left her to the ocean and have become fish. Her deepest longing may be to be an old lady as she is and take a long sleep. No more killings in Africa, no more rapes in Batavia, no more Jesuits missions in Japan (which failed completely thanks god), she just would like to close her eyes and take her well-deserved peaceful sleep. Why do I know Lisbon is a lady? Easy! Because any harbour towns open legs to the sea to welcome her men. Harbour is mother’s wombs and behind the harbour there are always hills. Lisbon got even 2 hills, one left and one right. Then I recommend you to visit new Lisbon Aquarium and walk through glass tube through the sea. But I don’t say what this actually is.
