Hey guys! It is Aiko Hemingway with Schwagirl. I am an American English pronunciation coach based in Hawaii. I myself had a hard time in the US because of my very THICK Japanese accent (I came to the US after became an adult!), and I am coaching Japanese clients who are in the US working in an English environment based on my own experience and skills that I gained over time through my linguistics research at UCLA. My working style is a laptop working style, meaning I can work from anywhere and at anytime. All I need is my laptop and internet. I have been working on changing my lifestyle past 6 years. I am currently doing only what I am really passionate about and making enough money to live with. From that experience, I am doing business coaching to guide people to have a life that they desire. わー、、、スピーチコンテストが近づいてきました
トーストマスターズというパブリックスピーチを練習するクラブは
毎年、スピーチコンテストを行います
ハワイにはいくつクラブがあるんだろう。。
６０個くらい？
６０のクラブから、それぞれ代表を決めて、
ハワイ州でスピーチコンテストをするのです
で、去年も、私のクラブから代表でコンテストに出ましたが
今年も、代表として出てきます〜〜
トーストマスターズって、日本人の多いハワイでも、日本人（日系人ではなく）に今まであったことないし
ノンネイティブスピーカーがあまりいないんですよね
なので、英語でのハンデというものを考えてしまうけど、
それを考えないという訓練を現在しているような気がします
ネイティブスピーカーか、ノンネイティブスピーカーか、
というのは、スピーチには関係ない！
と考えるようにしています＾＾
とは言え、私のメンターは、日系アメリカ人で英語がネイティブだけど、
インターナショナルレベルでクラブを取りまとめるリーダーになるときには、
「発音の練習もしたのよ〜」
って言ってました
ネイティブスピーカーでも、英語の発音の練習？！
やっぱり、発音は大切だわ。
そう考えると、日本語だって
「話し方教室」とかあるし、
社会人になったら、しっかりと日本語を発音することが求められる
滑舌悪いと「滑舌悪い！」って突っ込まれるし笑
日本語でも、そうなんだから、英語も同じ
発音は大切なのです
特に、日本語アクセントに慣れてない人にも
パッと通じるようなクリアな発音は必要！
スピーチコンテストの審査にも
correctness
accuracy
という審査のカテゴリーがあるので、発音も文法もチェックされます
コンテストまで、難しい単語の発音練習をしようっと！
ジョークとかも入れたので、
ちゃんとジョークとして笑ってもらうには、
クリアに伝わらないとね＾＾
緊張するけど、楽しみながらスピーチしてみます！
