Hi everyone! How are you? I wanted to share a story with y'all today.
I met Emiko Rasmussen about a year ago. She is a confidence building coach and podcaster. I took her session because I wanted to build confidence.
Back then, I avoided talking in front of people as much as possible because I get nervous and I forget what I wanted to say.
Emiko gave me great tips to deal with my fears and I started taking action.
About a year later, this is currently where I am.
I am in Toastmasters and competing in state speech contests in Hawaii.
My club chose me as its representative! It may be hard to see, but I am the only non-native speaker of English. They chose me to be their representative.
I really believe we non-native speakers of English can compete, work, live with native speakers at the same level in the US.
Just take action, practice a lot, and improve.
"take action" is the most important one in my opinion because nothing will start until you take action. So take action!
I still have a lot to learn, challenge and grow, but I am happy that I have been moving forward. I am motivated now.
Thanks Emiko for all the great tips. She is my mentor and good friend. I believe she will change so many more people's lives.
