I think that it is a hidden nameboard of good performance and good sound quality.I learned about the existence of this musician on the former FM program, but at that time I was a poor student, so I couldn't afford to buy LP.Now I recall the existence and came to purchase.The content is as mentioned above and the band members and guest musicians are also gorgeous.I recommend it to anyone interested in the Jazz-funk sound of NY at that time.


中村照夫率いるライジング・サン・バンドが音楽の殿堂カーネギー・ホールで行った伝説のライヴ盤。

長年ニューヨークを拠点にべーシスト、プロデューサーとして活躍する中村照夫の存在をどれだけの人が知っているのだろうか？

中村照夫が単身ニューヨークへ渡ったのは1964年の5月、22歳の時。その後ベーシストとして腕を磨き、69年にロイ・ヘインズ(ds)のバンドでプロ・デビュー。73年に初リーダー作をリリース後、自己のバンド“ザ・ライジング・サン"を結成し、アルバムとシングルが全米チャートにトップ10入りを果たすという快挙を成し遂げた。


本作品は5枚目のリーダー作をリリース後の79年6月15日、NYにある音楽の殿堂カーネギー・ホールで日本人初となる単独公演をライヴ録音した記録。元々79年にLP盤でリリースされたものだが長らくCD化されず、入手困難となっていた一枚。


ランディ・ブレッカー(tp)、ボブ・ミンツァー(ts)、スティーヴ・グロスマン(ts)、ハリー・ウィテカー(p)など錚々たる顔ぶれを誇った“ライジング・サン・バンド"を率いた中村照夫の70年代の活動・活躍の総決算といえる伝説の記録である。
