柘榴の実 この年もまた 太り来て 幾千年の 旅の末かな

柘榴は遠くペルシャはザグロス山脈の麓が故郷と聞く

長き旅の末いまこの日本に咲く

幾千年の夏みのりては落ちまた実る

人もまた同じく生まれては死しまた生る


I have heard that pomegranates originate from the foothills of the Zagros Mountains in far-away Persia.

After a long journey, it is now blooming in Japan.

At thousands summers the pomegranate ripened, fell and ripened again.

In the same way, mankind are born, die, and are born.
