草木瓜(クサボケ)の 花は見ぬ間に 咲きいづる 川の瀬疾(はや)き 時の流れぞ

時の流れは疾きこと川の瀬の如し
昨日晴れたる都内を昼どき歩く
たまさかに訪ふ公園の坂道を下れば路の傍に草木瓜の咲く
先日訪ひたる折には蕾も無きに今は花の盛りなり
Time changes quickly like the flow of a river.
Yesterday, I walked around Tokyo on a sunny day.
As I was walking down the slope of the park I sometimes pass, flowering-quince were blooming beside the road.
When I passed by the other day, there weren't even any buds, but now they're in full bloom.
