この二つの文章の意味が大きく違うことがわかれば、a　と　the　の区別が出来てるっていえると

思います。

Tell me a story.　といわれたら　“Sorry, I'm busy. ” 又は　“Ok, what kind of story do you want?”　

などの返事が浮かびます。　そう、よく子どもがママに何かお話してとねだっている光景。

Tell me the story. といわれたら、“ What story? ” 、“What are you talking about? ”

そう、この言葉をいきなり言われても、何の話を聞きたいの？　って思うはず。

Tell me the story.　と言うからには、　

You know what? A fanny thing happened to me last night.

のようなシチュエーションが前提にあるはずですよね。

この　文法的な理解とは別に　a と　the　を区別しなければならないということを

最近知りました。　それは・・・・・・

一つに限定されるものにはtheがつく。

例えば

the sun

the east

the right

the Rocky Mountains

the Philippine Islands　　　などなど

でも、中には例外もあるそうです

まだまだ、奥が深いです。冠詞を付けるか付けないかは、その都度覚えるしかないみたいです。

ネイティブにとって、the、　a、　又は　何も付けない、かを区別するのは、日本人が　「～は、」と「～が、」　を自然に考えずに使ってるようなものなのだそうです。

沢山の経験から身に付けていくしか手がないようです。
