お疲れ様です。
I’m Gui, and I'll be writing the tenth new student self-introduction blog. Nice to meet you!
I have to apologise for writing the post in English, but I’m still learning Japanese so it’s best that I don’t embarrass myself.
Name: Guilherme Cristino (but please call me Gui ^^)
Faculty: Department of Biotechnology, Graduate School of Engineering
Speciality: Br
I’m an exchange student from Portugal and I’ll be staying in Osaka University for one semester. I’m 21 years old, although I will be turning 22 this month so I hope to celebrate my birthday with everyone! In Portugal, my major is Biomedical Engineering and I’ve finished my Bachelor’s degree 2 years ago, so I’m currently on the second year of my Master’s. If anyone is curious, my home university is called Instituto Superior Técnico.
Regarding my swimming history, my parents put me in swimming classes when I was still a baby, so I’ve been swimming all my life. I started competing at 9 and when I was 12, I joined my current club (SFUAP). Some time after I turned 18, I was planning on retiring from swimming, however at that time my previous captain retired and I was asked by my teammates and friends to become the new captain. I’m now glad I took that position and kept swimming, because I really like this sport and my friends back at home. For the past 2 years, I decided to only stop swimming when I break my club’s breastroke records, which I’m really close to do. I was also really inspired by my older brother my whole swimming career. He is an amazing swimmer, a lot faster than me. Fun fact, I was only able to surpass my brother in breastroke when I was 18, despite breastroke being the worse of his 4 strokes…
For my hobbies and likes, I’m a really simple person. I like to play videogames like League of Legends, which I played for around 10 years but I also love to play Pokemon so if anyone is interested, please play with me. I really like to play volleyball. I like anime and manga, my favourite is One Piece of course. One of my favourite things to do is to read web novels, mainly science fiction. My favourite novel is called “Library of Heaven’s Path”, and it’s a Chinese novel around 2000 chapters long. I liked it so much that I ended up reading it two times despite it being so long. The last thing is that I really like to cook, but I’m still learning😆
Finally, I really like to travel, which is one of the reasons why I ended up choosing Japan for my exchange program. I was here 2 years ago on vacation and fell in love with the country. So I decided to come back and explore new things and meet new people. I hope that I can come back here again because I have made a lot of happy memories here in Japan. Since I arrived, I visited Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, Himeji and Tokyo but I still want to travel a lot more.
Here are some photos I took during my travels
I’ve been studying Japanese for 2 months and I still need a lot more practice, so I hope everyone can teach me more.
I like to write, so sometimes I forget the time and end up writing a lot, so I hope my post wasn’t too long. I have a lot of things that I want to share with everyone so please don’t be afraid to talk to me ☺️
There are also a lot of things I want to learn, so please guide me along. I look forward to spending time with everyone ^^.
