"Naifanchi" is one of  the most mysterious katas of Okinawan karate. As is often said, this funny-looking kata is not only "basic" but also "ultimate".

Do you really know the meanings of every movements of this funny-looking (but very practical) kata?

For example, do you know why Naifanchi requires us to put one hand on another hand as preparation posture?

Musokai, the Okinawan karate school established by shihan Kiyoshi Arakaki, has the answer.

As m y senior practitioner rera-san told, Naifanchi makes us to stretch our latissimus dorsi muscles, the most important muscles to operate arms quickly and powerfully.
(Small muscles in arms are much less important.)

Putting one hand on another in Naifanchi is not a ritual. It is a practical preparation for coming battle.

Naifanchi hides a lot of secrets inside it.
