We drummers need to convey the power of tapping to the shell in order to sound fast, hard maple shell drums with good sound. So tune batter to the same pitch as the reso. To make the toms look more like Dave Weckl, raise the batter a bit. My kit has a slightly higher pitch kick snare and toms batter. If the reso of the toms is low, the vibration mode with the snare wire can be suppressed and the resonance can be reduced. Furthermore, since the batter and reso pitch is the same and a fundamental pitch is generated, there is no dissonance when listening or recording with your ears. #pearldrums #pearl_drums #sabian #sabiancymbals
