Music of South Africa

Today I would like to talk about South Africa.

　Firstly, I would like to talk about singers of South Africa. There are some singers who were born in there and have been active all over the world. First is Miriam Makeba.  
She is one of the most popular South African singer and known all over the world. After visiting America, gained popularity. In 1967 "Pata Pata" Original song became a hit all over the world. Now she was known for of course, Singer, bridge of African culture and Anti-apartheid activities.

Next is Ladysmith Black Mambazo.  

 This is a group of Gospel and composed of 10 people. They are basically a cappella chorus and also sing many gospel songs. So they spread the African gospel all over the world. Also in South Africa, there are many gospel singer.

Secondly, I would like to take about instruments. First is Vuvuzela.   
It is a kind of trumpet with the length of about 1m and is made of Plastic. It is well blew soccer game in South Africa and supporters blow it enthusiastically to defeat the opposing team in the end of the game. In 2010 FIFA World Cup it was broadcasted. So in Japan it have been much known. Next is Rattoru.

 
 

 It is called Hosho in local and was made of Maranka which is unusual kind of gourd. Shape, how to use and melody are look like a Maraca.

In conclusion, people use some instruments many purpose such as playing, politics and so on.

Music of West Africa

hello every one. my name is yusuke miyaishi. I would like to talk about music of Africa.
 

Today I would like to talk about West African music. 　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　

　 Firstly, let’s talk about the instruments. First is Djembe. It is most useful in this area and there are might some person who know this one. It is like cup shape.

Usually, people play it by hand. Next is SANBAN.
   
 
  
  SANBAN is Percussion.  This is played by drumstick　and along with the bass drum and the songs are composed by the combination of the different sound and rhythm. Next is tama.  
This is a drum of Senegal and shape is hourglass. Some lizard skin is stretched. In the arm by tightening the string, you can put a change in pitch. 

  Next is myth. In west african society. There is a myth that instruments was brought to man by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, it is possible to touch it was only a limited part of the human. 

In conclusion, we can learn many things from these instruments.

Music of Indonesia

      Indonesia is a large country, which consist of many islands and population of this country is over two hundred million. Bali music is famous to foreigner but Bali is one of an island in Indonesia to the east of Java. To talk about popular music in Indonesia, there are many kinds.
 

1.    Pop Indonesia

It is produced in Jakarta. It is similar to western pops music.

2.    Dangdut

It has been influenced by India. It is characterized as doing with dance, which have shaking waist. It spread Malaysia and Brunei.

3.    Jazz vocal

It is not Jam session, but refined cool jazz. Almost these contain vocal.

4.    Pengajian

It is that melody adds to the Koran.

5.    Dakwah

It takes roots a doctrine about Islam.

6.    Qasinah or Qosidah

It is kind of Islam music.

7.    Rohani

It is the music for chiristian.

In Indonesia, many musicians appear, and disappear too. So the cycle of boom is very short and fast. So Indonesians say that they have a friend ,who is a singer. Especially, I would like to introduce you who have population sustainably.

1.    DEWA

It is an idol group, which consists of 5 people.
 

2.    KATON BAGASKARA

He is famous for covering Kuwata-Keisuke’s song.

3.    IVAN FALS

They can play both Rock and Ballade.

4.    UTAH LIKUMAHUWA

They are famous for their best single”MUNGKINKAH”

5.    CHRISYE

He is good at Reggae-pops.
 

6.    15 DREAM BOYS

They are idols. But they are not good at singing a song.

Musi of Vietnam

         //Nowadays, in Vietnam there are two major kinds of music, “nyakku-tye”and”nyakku-kue-fun”. Thinking about the history of Vietnam music, China and French have big influence. Especially, in 20^th century, the tide of popular music occurred. From 1940 to 1954, the first golden age of “nyanku-tye” arose. Very romantic music became in fashion. 
     
        /Before separating Vietnam into south and north,there is big  influence of China and French. After separating Vietnam , the music history was separated too.
After innovating movement, the influence of foreign countries became larger than before./

     /The character of musician became variety,   for example Ram-Tyun, Fun-Tan, Kuan-Rin, and Tu-Fon. So music scene is exciting in Vietnam.
 
 
     
     / Then corporations that produces record strain finding, raising and selling new musicians. But this process is too fast to mature skills. So the corporations are tend to focus on visual of musician and projects for selling musician. Music market in Vietnam has large potential to leap.

     To talk about traditional music, tan-bau is a very unique instrument.//   The height of various sound and a peculiar tone are produced by changing the harmonics rendition based on the principle of the harmonic overtone, and the tension of a bowstring. /The sound of tan-bau would impress you. //
 

Music of Thailand

Thailand is a rare type country, because it is an only country, which has never colonized by developed countries in Southeast Asia.// So other countries’ folk music in this area has been affected by developed countries. /On the other hand, music of Thailand has transformed in a unique way. The folk music of Thailand has origins, which come from India, China, and South Sea islands. And this music is often said that the most advanced music Indochina.//

      Especially, curt music of Thailand consists of melody percussion instruments, which came from South Sea islands, stringed instruments, which came from China and Burma, and songs, which need an unique utterance. And this music usually accompanies with royal dance or musicals. In 7 to 10 century, music of Thailand had effected by Indian music mainly. 

      But in such a situation, a melody percussion instruments, which was original of Thailand was born. It’s called as “kon-won”. In 14 to 18 century during Ayutthaya kingdom, Chinese and Burmese music were added to./  Nowadays, western music’ effect is getting to be big, but the classic tradition is still popular in Thailand. F olk music of Thailand is used a lot at ceremonial occasions, for example religion dance.  //
 

To talk about what is popular music in today’s Thailand, Tata-Young, BIRD, Golf & Mike, and Potato are liked by young people in Thailand./
       Tata-young is a female singer. She has high value on singing and also has a coquettish appearance. Because of those, she became popular not only in Thailand, but also in other countries. For example, Paris-Hilton likes her and her songs. /
       BIRD is a male musician. He is one of leading figures in Thai-pops. In Thailand it is recommended to become a priest. So in spite of his great popularity, he became a priest. But it was a short term. He has relation between Japan a lot. For example, he provided a group of Japanese idol, which is called “Berry’s Koubou” with songs, which he made.
