本日はいつものメールのやり取りから英語を勉強しようというテキストですね。
気になる表現は一つだけでした。

それではUS報道です。
Krist Norm国土安全保障長官を批判する報道がたくさん出ているので、そこを取り上げますので、英語を勉強しましょう。
批判のもととなっているのが、その言動とメディア対応です。以前コスプレで機関銃を持ってSNSへアップした映像が炎上しました。

発言もトランプ大統領寄りではありますが、かなり過激で場所に合わせた発言が苦手のようです。最近ではトークショーでの軽口でNLFを煽った様な発言をして炎上しています。本来ならそこはNorm長官のような人がうまく立ち回れば見方が増えそうな場面なのに。
Bad Bunnyというプエルトルコ系の歌手が今度のスーパーボールでパフォーマンスをしますが、彼はICE嫌いで有名でUSでのコンサートをICEが急襲するかも、との理由で開催していません。彼のファンにはラテン系の人が多いので不法移民を狙ってICEがくる、というロジックですね。彼自身は米国籍なので捕まることはないのですが。

Noem said those attending big game should be law-abiding Americans "who love this country."

まあ、国民が愛するNLFを夜の軽い番組で、リップサービスとは言え、ストレートに非難するのは得策ではないですね。しかもグラミー賞を取った歌手へのリスペクトもありませんし。もう少しマイルドに行けばいいのにと思います。
またNorm長官だけが悪いわけではないですが、ポジションとして移民政策への不平不満は彼女に集中しています。またこれも彼女だけに非難が集まるのはおかしいのですが、Real ID発行という施策により移動の際にアメリカ人であるという証明が必要との施策が導入時の混乱もありうまく行っていないようで、仕事ができないという批判も殺到してしまっています。
とても54歳には見えない若々しい言動が、この噛み合っていない状況とあいまって注目を浴びてしまっているイメージです。個人的にはエルサルバドルのCECOT刑務所の前でスピーチをした、クレイジーなところがファンなので頑張って欲しいのですが。トランプ大統領とうまくやっているうちは大丈夫ですが、今後どうなることか。
