The Younger One is, the More Effective Urine Therapy Becomes

Getting back to koten hanno. The natural healing process that accompanies urine therapy can be depicted as follows:

It should be noted that the healing process involves two completely different phases--that phase in which the individual no longer feels the symptoms and the phase in which the cells have actually returned to normal. While it is generally thought that the appearance of new and different symptoms mark a deterioration in one's condition, in fact, various new symptoms appear as the body changes in the course of the healing process. Once urine enters the body, enfeebled cells are healed and reinvigorated, producing different symptoms from those experienced thus far.

In other words, the two stages in the healing process are such that at first, various phenomena occur within the body, followed by changes in outward symptomes. An illness is completely cured once the internal and external phenomena have both run full cycle. Symptoms which appear afer beginning urine therapy are all reflections of the internal healing process and do not merit worry.

Suppose someone has chest problems. Once that person starts urine therapy, the nutrients and other elements in urine will penetrate into the lungs and activate the lung cells. The individual may fear his/her condition has deteriorated, as there may be a sudden change in the type of cough. But this is actually evidence that the lung cells are being healed. Once the coughing subsides, the person may break out in an itchy rash. Alarmed by the new problem, the person may try to treat the rash with ointments or stop drinking urine. But in reality, new symptoms are an indication of an improvement in the individual's internal condition.
Recently I had to buy new pair of glasses. I no longer needed a prescriptionfor astigmatism after drinking urine for three and a half years. (Now I have been drinking for 30 years). Although I had to buy a new pair of glasses then, I felt this expense couldn't be helped since urine therapy doesn't cost me a cent. After all, it was part of the process of curing myself and ridding myself of unnecessary crutches.

As seen above, koten hanno, or the physical reactions to urine therapy, take various forms. Some of my readers will undoubtedly be wondering why they should try urine therapy if they will have to go through symptoms like those listed above. But it should be realized that illnesses are not cured that easily, and it is even more difficult to cure an illness via natural means. What sets urine therapy apart from other forms of natural healing,it does fully reactivate the cells.

One of my patients vowed to endure the ractions since he saw no other alternatives after having his ear damaged by an ear, nose, and throat specialist who treated the ringing in his ears. When I told him his problem would recover naturally with urine, he was persuaded not to go to a doctor and get more chemotherapeutic agents. He even promised to stop taking prescription drugs once he began urine therapy.

Koten hanno vary in accordance with the severity of a person's illnesses. The more serious the ailments, the more severe and prolonged the reaction. In my experience, however, not one person has been unable to withstand them. Most people bear with them while continuing work or study, and through this experience, move toward recovery. Since much time is required for the symptoms of any illness to appear, obviously it takes time for them to heal. Regardless of how far science has developed, I feel the claims about "quick fix" scientific cures are nothing more than arrogant and misguided claims of scientists. The only way to truly cure oneself is through natural-healing methods, unless there are miracles performed by "spiritual" method.
The Taste of Urine Changes by the Day

While this isn't a reaction in itself, the taste of urine changes from day to day, primarily due to what one has eaten or drunk. People who consistently find their urine tasting sweet are more than likely to be diabetic. But sometimes the food eaten the previous night can result in sweet-tasting urine. A diet that leans toward animal protein will result in a salty-tasting urine, while one that leans toward vegetables and grains will result in less salty-tasting urine.

The taste of urine also depends on how tired one is. After long hours at work and lack of sleep, urine might be expected to be very salty. But in fact, the opposite is true--urine at such times has very little taste or pep. The amount of solids left in the intestine after digestion is another major factor detemining the taste of urine. This becomes quite apparent once one's intestinal condition improves. One will not feel the urge to defecate unless as cetain amount of solids accumulate in the rectum. That volume will determine the taste of the urine.

In this way, one can see that various factors account for the taste of urine. It is safe to assume, however, that no matter how urine may taste on any particular day, it contains all the nutrients and other elements needed to get one's body through the day. Initially no one has the psychological leeway to savor the taste of urine. The only thing one can think about is how fast to get it down. But as one gets used to it, it becomes possible to drink it slowly and savor the taste.

Drinking urine with the awareness that the taste changes will bring to for a greater awareness about one's inner self and one's ailments. Once urine is approached with this type of perspective, people become much more attuned to the changes taking place in the body and continue the therapy. But people are often tempted to stop when confronted with various reactions.

Having mentioned diabetes above, I would like to elaborte a bit here. One of my patients, a diabetic, practices urine therapy in conjunction with insulin injections. Before starting urine therapy, she had to take 24 milliliters of insulin daily, but within six months, her prescribed level of insuline dropped to 12 milliliters. Western medicine claims that diabetes is incurable, but as this patient shows, it should be possible to wean diabetics from insulin completely.
3) Painful Old Injuries

In many cases, pain returns to places which were injured in the past. These injuries include broken bones, sprained fingers and other assorted bruises. While the length of this pain varies from person to person, in some cases it continues for at least a month or more depending on the seriousness of injuries which took place in the past.

4) Slight Fever

A substance in urine that produces a fever may leave individuals feeling languid, as though they have caught a cold. It is, however, not serious enough to merit taking time off from work or school. Once the fever subsides, the body's heat control mechanisms work more effectively. Consequently, people with low blood pressure become more receptive to heat and people with high blood pressure find themselves less sensitive to heat. Further, perspiration levels return to normal. People who tend to be chilled easily generally find those symptoms disappear soon after starting urine therapy due to the substance in urine that produces a fever which helps control the heart's heating and cooling mechanism.

5) Pain in the Teeth and Gums

This pain will disappear fairly quickly if one gargles with urine. Somethimes one's crowns come off. This is because the teeth contract as they become healthier from the nutrients received from urine. It is best to wait until all the teeth have healed before trying to replace crowns or fillings that may have come off. I found all my cavities cleared up. The teeth and gums may hurt for a while, but the pain will disappear if one continues to drink urine.

Other typical reactions include:

6) Increased saliva

7) Ringing in the ears

8) Occasional headaches

9) Languidness

10) Tired eyes

11) Cramped muscles

12) Sleepiness

13) Slow wittedness

14) Trouble speaking

15) Coughing (people with chest problems such as by smoking)
Examples of Different Kinds of Koten Hanno

Some typical koten hanno reactions are listed below:

1) Rashes or Eczema

People who have taken too many drugs or foods with chemical additives are certain to break out in a rash. In some cases, the rash covers the whole body, but in most cases it is limited to the face. Rashes that appear in places other than the face may be itchy, but this can be eased by applying urine. There is no need to worry even if the symptoms persist. Some rashes may continue for two to three months. The skin will peel away seemingly a layer at a time and eventually become healthy again. It is a good idea to stay away from foods containing chemical additives, however.

2) Prolonged Diarrhea

The bowel movements of healthy people are said to be not too hard or soft. However, as urine therapy cleans the walls of the intestines, the feces generally become very soft. Most people who experience diarrhea think they have eaten something spoiled and begin to wonder whether or not urine is really good for them. But this is not due to food or drink, nor does one experience the pain that accompanies usual cases of diarrhea due to indigestion. People with hemorrhoids may experience some bleeding, but this should clear up if the anal area is carefully wiped and the hemorrhoids are pushed back into the anus. Concern about infection is not warranted, regardless of whether the feces come in contact with the hemorrhaging piles, as the uric acid in urine will heal them. The bleeding will clear up even faster if the area is wiped off with cotton balls dampened with urine. The length of the diarrhea varies from person to person, but in prolonged cases it can go on for at least two years. This diarrhea leaves one with a refreshed feeling, as the entire contents of the intestines are emptied out at once. Some people find themselves defecating two to three times a day, but this, too, will ease in time. Usually the diarrhea smells very strange. That is because it is the toxic matter that has been stuck to the walls of the intestine, which is termed shukuben (built-up feces) or kokuben (black feces) by Oriental medicine practitioners.
Chapter Five

Physical Reactions to Urine Therapy

Three couples asked me to treat them for infertility. Within four months of heeding my advice to try urine therapy, all three women conceived and delivered healthy babies ten months later. All three mothers continued to drink their urine during pregnancy with absolutely no ill effects on the fetuses. Indeed, judging from the babies' robustness, urine obviously helped improve the mothers' conditions and enabled them to provide even more energy to the fetuses.

The first organ to be created once the egg and sperm unite in the uterus is said to be the right kidney. Oriental medicine views the right kidney as the recipient of the energy passed down from one's ancestors and the route from which genetic matter is passed from one's parents. Consequently, it is impossible to treat genetically induced illnesses without treating the right kidney, which controls the amount of water in the body.

The fetus circulates nutrients received from its mother along with the water(i.e. urine) it produces itself over a period of 10 months and 10 days, the time necessary for its complete development. Needless to say, the amniotic fluid that the fetus swims in includes urine that it has excreted.

Once urine enters the body, uric acid penetrates all parts of the body, activating DNA found in formant or dead cells. Uric acid not only enhances cell activity, but helps remove the toxins that build up on the walls of the intestines. This produces all sorts of physical reactions, which will occur without fail when a natural-healing treatment is employed. The so-called koten hanno (healing pain) that are characteristic of Oriental medical teatments will occur in urine therapy as well. In an earlier chapter, I described the cyclical pattern of changes my body underwent as I proceeded with urine therapy. It is safe to say that anyone who tries urine therapy will experience these reactions and obtain health once they are overcome.
The Teacher Who Taste Tested Organic Fertilizer

While the practice has since lost ground, until very recently, most Japanes farmers farmed organically, using fertilizer made of human excrement. I recall falling into the compost piles near the fields where we would fly our kites as children on New Year's day. I also recall lugging such fertilizer in buckets attached to a bamboo pole while helping out a neighborhood farmer. It was difficult work, as the buckets would sway left and right, making it hard to walk straight. Sometimes I would lose my balance and the contents of the buckets would splash all over me.

There were generally three compost piles per field, divided in accordance with the aging process into one-, two- and three-year old fertilizer. The oldest fertilizer would be applied to the fields, as fertilizer that hadn't been aged properly was too acidic and harmful for them.

A junior high school teacher at an agricultural vacational school once told me that at his school, students were told to taste the fertilizer to determine whether it had been sufficiently aged. And none of the neighborhood farmers minded at all if fertilizer became plastered on their faces and bodies.

These recollections give rise to an important question: why modern doctors are so concerned about colicbacillus infecting urine. If colebacillus is so harmful to the human body, as doctors would have us believe, why aren't organic farmers or the students at agricultural vocational schools struck down by this bacteria? The farmer next door lived to the ripe old age of 95 without ever getting sick, and the teacher at the agricultural vocational school is as healthy as ever. And the elderly Indians on the Grassy Narrows Reservation do not wipe themselves off after defecating, but many lived beyond the age of 90. It is said that hemorrhoids result from a failure to keep the anus clean, but I should note that none of the Indians on the reservation suffered from hemorrhoid.
After reading Genjin and seeing the pictures of the Nuba tribe, I have made a habit of retaining a bit of my first urine of the the morning and putting about three drops in my eyes and massaging the rest of it all over my body. The nutrients and other elements in urine pass from the skin into the body, further complementing the healthful effects fo drinking it. About 10 minutes after giving myself a urine rubdown, I wipe myself off with a dampened washcloth. This removes any residual smell.

One of my friends decided to wash his hair with urine. But apparently he didn't listen to my instructions carefully, as his colleagues at work told him he had begun to smell strange, prompting him to give it up. Urine will definitely smell if it is not wiped off, so anyone who plans to use it topically should be sure to wipe it off.

The use of urine as topical medicine is also take up in The Water of Life, which I will go into detail about later. It says the refreshing feeling one gets from applying urine externally goes beyond description. One of the elements of urine has a bleaching effect, so people used urine to wash clothes in olden days before soap was invented, it says. Urine can easily remove oily stains.

Using urine rather than soap to was one's face in the morning, (don't forget to rinse it off) leaves the skin pearly white and removes any blemishes or wrinkles. Personally I think drinking urine generally makes woment more beautiful. That beauty is entirely different from the beauty attained from cosmetics; it comes from within.

Recently a cleansing cream made of urea resins is on the market. It seems to me that one's own urine is much more effective. If one starts applying urine endermically at an early age, there is no need to worry about wrinkles forming around the eyes when you get old.

The most common complaints in regard to urine is its awful smell. That's due to the fermentation of the blood. Fermented things have a peculiar smell of their own. The most expensive perfumes are often made from fermented beaver testicles. Cleansing creams and perfumes are among the products made from excrement. Today, various types of medicines are made from urine collected from the Japanese Self-Defense Force dormitories' latline and from women's hormones. Nothing could be more ironic for the people who consider urine dirty and smelly.

After having practiced the urine therapy for about a year, I had a chance during a short trip to Japan to view a photo exhibit of the African Nuba tribe. For some reason, I wanted to avert my eyes yet found myself drawn back. The photos included shots of young Nuba tribe members squatting under a urinating cow and washing their faces with cow urine. Perhaps the intense aridness and heat of Africa accounts for this practice. But I wondered why they relied on cow urine rather than their own.

The African people are physiologically no different from us. It's not as though they have an extra liver. If it's good for them, then it should be good for us. Tha's what I thought to myself while examining the photo exhibit.

Having come this far, my readers should have an idea of what I am trying to suggest. Glancing around the globe, it is clear that urine therapy has long been practiced throughout the world. The tradition can be found among the Inuits and indigenous people of the North American continent, the Yuro people of the Asian continent, the Ukrainians, Hangarians, Italian, and gypsies of Europe, and the Nuba people of Africa. Japanese nobility have a long tradition of urine drinking.

There is a vast oral tradition thoughout the world regarding the medicinal uses of urine. This is only natural, as there is no reason to believe that people were not instinctively aware of the importance of consuming urine in the same manner as food.

If I may be allowed to take a poke on contemporary society, I might ask why we tend to be so fussy about the taste and what we put into our mouths, when we are so indifferent about what comes out the other end. I think we need to have grater interest in what we excrete as well.
"If not, they wouldn't called filthy. Not only that, but the Yuro people were thought to be responsible for making medicine out of human urine and excrement. After all, since they bathed daily in urine, it would only be a mattter of time for them to realize the medicinal effects of excrement as well. And with Manchuria being the barren land that it is, there was nothing else with which to make medicine. These people rubbed wild boar fat on their bodies to protect themselves from the winter cold. Since they were very barbarian in nature, it was only natural that they used their animal instincts to discover such medicines."

"Are the Yuro people identical to the Tunguses clan of northeast China and eastern Siberia?"

"No. The Tungueses clan were spread over a vast area during the Eastern Han and Three Warring States periods(25-280 AD) that extended from the "Western regionns" to the northern parts of the Liaoning region to the east. That's why the Yuro people on the eastern outskirts of the region also incorporated this type of medicine. It's clear, however, that the Tunguses clan learned of the medicinal effect of urine and human excrement from the Yuro people."

According to the Kojien dictionary, the "Western regions" as referred to in Chinese literature dating from this period indicate various countries west of China. In the broadest sense, they include Persia, Asia Minor, Syria, Egypt and other Middle Eastern countries, while in the stricter sense, the Tarim Basin and eastern Turkistan, where Iranian tribes lived on oases during the Han Period and formed city states that were generically referred to as the 36 states of the West. This area formed an important crossroads for Eastern and Western culture during the T'ang Dynasty. By the Ch'ing (Manchu) Period (1644-1912), it was incorporated as part of China on the maps.

The fact that the Yuro people occupied such as vast region suggests that medicines made of urine and human excrement were utilized over a wide area.
