The second page of an admit card is a list of instructions in small print. Invigilators enforce every line of it, and candidates are turned away each year for ignoring one.
Reporting time and gate closing
Two times are printed: when to report and when the gate closes. Entry after gate closing is refused without exception, even if the exam has not started.
The identity document
The instructions name the photo IDs that are accepted, and the ID must be original. A photocopy or a picture on a phone is not accepted.
Photographs
Some exams ask you to paste a recent photograph on the admit card or carry spare ones. It should match the photograph you uploaded.
Barred items
Phones, watches of any kind, calculators, wallets, bags and written material are usually prohibited. Centres do not always provide safe storage.
Dress rules
Instructions on footwear, jewellery, sleeves and metal items vary by exam. Read them the night before, not at the gate.
Declarations
If a self-declaration or undertaking is printed with the admit card, fill it in and sign where indicated, sometimes in front of the invigilator.
