Fake job notices spread fast on WhatsApp and social media, especially when a big recruitment is expected. Most can be spotted in under two minutes.

Red flags

  • An application fee paid to a personal UPI ID or bank account.
  • A website address that is not the recruiting body's official domain (gov.in, nic.in or the organisation's own site).
  • Promises of selection without an exam, or "limited seats, apply today".
  • No advertisement number, no last date, or a notice made as an image instead of a PDF.

How to check

  1. Open the official website of the recruiting body yourself, not through the forwarded link.
  2. Look for the same advertisement number in its recruitment or careers section.
  3. Cross-check with Employment News.

When in doubt, use a listing that links every notice to its official source, such as the recruitment notifications on Govtpvt. Never share OTPs or pay anyone who promises a job.
