There’s plenty of room in the market for mini notebooks, and Hewlett-Packard on Monday introduced three more.
New to the HP’s minibook scene are the HP Elitebook 2530, HP Elitebook
2730 and HP Compaq 2230s. Of the three subnotebooks, the smallest and lightest is the 12.1-inch, 3.19-pound Elitebook 2530 for business users. The Elitebook 2530 features a 2-megapixel webcam that can be used for scanning business cards: You’d simply hold a business card in front of the camera and the software will scan and convert it into text. Unlike the MacBook Air, the Elitebook 2530 includes an optical drive.
The Elitebook 2730 weighs 3.7 pounds and also sports a 12.1-inch screen. The notebook supports an add-on battery such as Compaq Evo N105 Battery , Compaq Evo N115 Battery , Compaq Evo N160 Battery , Compaq EVO N400 Battery , Compaq EVO N400c Battery , Compaq EVO N410 Battery , Compaq EVO N410c Battery , Compaq Evo N600 Battery , Compaq Evo N600C Battery , Compaq Evo N620C Battery , Compaq PP2060 Battery , Compaq PP2100 Battery that can extend battery life by up to 12 hours. Both the 2730 and the 2530 models will be shipping September starting at $1,670 and $1,499, respectively.
Thirdly, the 12.1-inch HP Compaq 2230s weighs 4.1 pounds and features HP 3D DriveGuard, an accelerometer that detects bumps and drops and prevents damage. This notebook is available now for $999.
