Porsche 911 GT3 RS unveiled

Porsche has unveiled the new 911 GT3 RS at the Geneva motor show today, branding the car a ‘definitive track car for everyday use.’
The GT3 RS is powered by a 4.0-litre flat-six engine developing 500hp and 460Nm of torque.
The result is a 0-62mph time of just 3.3 seconds, with 200 kmh (124 mph) coming up in 10.9 seconds.
As is the trend to set benchmarks at the famous Nurburgring, the GT3 RS has apparently lapped the Nordschleife in 7 minutes and 20 seconds, breaking the time previously set by the Carrera GT.
While some may bemoan the fact the GT3 RS is available only with Porsche’s dual-clutch PDK transmission, the company’s engineers point to the arrival of a number of race-inspired features, such as the ‘paddle neutral’ de-clutching facility, and the inclusion of a Pit Speed button which limits the car’s speed in a pit lane.
Porsche is particularly proud of the car’s weight-saving measures: the roof panel is made from magnesium, for instance, while carbon-fibre is used for the bonnet and boot lid.
The company says, as a result, the new RS model is 10kg lighter than the ‘regular’ 911 GT3.
The chassis has been fettled to ensure drivers can take advantage of the performance on offer, with rear-axle steering, torque vectoring, and a limited-slip differential all coming into play.
Standard equipment includes bi-xenon headlights, sports exhaust, Alcantara interior, 20-inch front and 21-inch rear forged alloy wheels, 7-inch colour touch-screen, climate control and vehicle tracking.
The new 911 GT3 RS is available to order now priced from £131,296, with first deliveries expected in May.

ハンドル、バケットシートの造形がすばらしい。
軽量化のため、ロゴは金属バッジではなくシールであった。（RSモデルは昔から）
4.0リッターフラット6エンジンは、燃えた教訓からか、消火器標準装備と・・・
気遣いが、ドイツ人らしい（笑）
雨天走行で、フロントのダクトから水が噴き出さないか心配であった。
ヘッドライト関係は、BMWが一歩リードかな。
このボディのまま、GT2RSも出せそうな雰囲気・・・
