視線をそらさず情報を確認できる、ソニーのメガネ型ウェアラブル端末
「SmartEyeglass」は、2014年9月にソニーが発表した透過式メガネ型のウェアラブル端末。Android 4.4以降のスマートフォンとワイヤレスで接続し、テキストやシンボル、画像などの情報を視界に重ねて表示することができる。今回リリースされたのはアプリ開発者向けの“Developer Edition”で、正式版のソフトウェア開発キット（SDK）も合わせて公開される。
CMOSイメージセンサー、加速度センサー、ジャイロスコープ、電子コンパス、照度センサー、マイクなどの多彩なセンシング機能を搭載。スマートフォンのGPSによる位置情報を活用し、ユーザーの状況に応じた情報を提供できる。
独自のホログラム光学技術により、85％の高い透過度をもった3.0mm厚の薄型レンズを採用。単色表示のため低消費電力かつ高輝度（1,000cd/m2）という特長も備える。
専用ページでは製品の購入手続きが可能なほか、アプリケーション開発支援サイト「Sony Developer World」にて最新のSDKが入手できる。なお、本製品は一般ユーザー・法人顧客むけに、2016年内の提供開始を目指して開発が継続される。
ハードは完成。あとはアプリ。
グーグルグラスを超えたか。
