version. For the English version, please visit t…ameblo.jp----------------------------------------------This was the final port of our "60 daysaround the Pacific Ocean".-------------------------------------------------------------------Looking back on our trip(2 cruise trips : 77 days on the sky and sea and 60 days around the Pacific Ocean)Two cruise tripsWe planned and carried out two cruise trips, one for 77 days from mid-September to early December 2023 last year, and the other for 60 days from the end of March to the end of May 2024 this year. The weak yen makes overseas travel more difficult for Japanese peopleWhen we planned the two trips mentioned above, the yen was still weak, at around ¥130/dollar.As of July 3, 2024, it is ¥161.88/dollar, and the yen is becoming weaker and ¥200/dollar is within reach. Therefore, it is becoming more and more difficult for Japanese people to travel abroad.Furthermore, how do Japanese government officials feel about the current situation in which not only overseas travel but even the daily lives of ordinary Japanese citizens are threatened? The cause of this weak yen is none other than the economic policies of the Japanese government and the Bank of Japan, which are centered on large corporations.Ordinary Japanese citizens have been completely left behind by the development of the global economy. We won't be traveling abroad for the time being. We have to think that there is no sign of the yen's depreciation improving in the future.Or so some economists say.As a result, overseas travel has become an expensive, luxury trip, and cruise travel, which has seen a rapid recovery worldwide since COVID-19 (coronavirus crisis), has become impossible for people like us who live solely on pensions.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The starting point of our trips is always "KLIA"We obtained Malaysian retirement visas and have been living near Kuala Lumpur since January 2009.Therefore, the starting point of our trips is always KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport).Incidentally, we often take cruises departing from Singapore, which is the closest airport to KLIA, and also take flights that depart from KLIA and stop via Singapore. Here,We will look back on the two cruise trips.Anyway, we will look back on the two cruise trips,"Around the World by Air and Sea in 77 Days" and "Around the Pacific in 60 Days".-------------------------------------------------------------------"Around the World in 77 Days by Air and Sea"From Kuala Lumpur, we flew to Singapore and joined back-to-back cruises from Singapore to Tokyo and Tokyo to Singapore on Royal Caribbean's Spectrum of the Seas,Next, we flew to Rome via London and took Western Mediterranean ---> Canary Islands ---> Transatlantic ---> Eastern and Western Caribbean cruise on MSCSeashore from Rome,Then, we returned to Kuala Lumpur via Florida-Orlando-->San Francisco-->Narita to complete our round-the-world trip.It took 77 days. The following world map shows the itinerary. The blue line is the cruise route and the pink line is the flight route.Around the World in 77 days by air and sea (1)Around the World in 77 days by air and sea (2)-------------------------------------------------------------------"60 Days Around the Pacific Ocean"On Celebrity's Solstice and Norwegian's Spirit, we sailed on cruise ships for 60 consecutive days, from Singapore ---> Sydney ---> Hawaii ---> Vancouver ---> Alaska ---> Kuril Islands ---> Hakodate ---> Sendai ---> Tokyo. The following world map shows the itinerary.60 days Around and Trans-Pacific cruise-------------------------------------------------------------------It was a wonderful memory! We feel that these trips were enriched every day by the uninterrupted succession of all the extraordinary events and the slow sailing life on board, and that each of our actions was condensed into a memory. We believe this was a result of the cruise-based form of travel, which gave us a great deal of leeway in our minds. We are thankful that we were able to stay in good health during the trip.Furthermore, wefeel truly fortunate that we wereable to stay in good health throughout this trip and never fell ill.We are grateful to the cruise companies and cruise staff for their attention to the passengers, not to mention their concern for the health of each passenger and themselves, in addition to the great mental comfort they gave me.Thank you very much.We will be alternating between the two cruise travelogues. The two cruise travelogues will continue to be alternately written and posted, with a distinction made between the "77 Days" and the "60 Days" cruise travelogues. We will make this clear in the header of each post.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Thank you very much for reading to the
