僕は彼女とのレストランでのデートの際、楽しくすごすため予約時にあることをしている。
それはなにかというと。。。
３人で予約をする。
シンプルだが、この方法だと、いつも正方形の４人用のテーブルをおさえる事ができる。
座席の配置については、あなたが座る時，まず最初に女性の椅子を持ってあげて彼女を先に座らせる事。
そして彼女の９０度となりの席に自分が座る。
これには沢山のメリットがある。
まず、テーブルにたっぷりのスペースがあること！
夜通し、真正面から彼女を見つめなくてもよくなる。でも一番重要なのは、お互いがより近い位置に座れるということである。あなたが面白いことを言って彼女が笑ったら、彼女はあなたの手や腕をタッチする事だってできるさ。
でも、レストランについた時、３人の予約のはずが二人しかいないのが現状。
さてどうする？
そんなの簡単。「あと一人は遅れてくる」事にしてしまうのだ。
99.9％の確率で、あなたがテーブルを2人用に変わる必要は無いだろう。
もし，その後スタッフが３人目の人についてしつこく尋ねてきたら、「キャンセルになった」とか「遅くくるから食事はなしで飲み物だけになるかも」と答えればいい。
レストラン側にとっては沢山の人をなるべくレストランへ入れたいワケだから、これはあまりいいことではないかもしれないが、私はただ楽しく食事をしたいのだ。
せまっくるしいテーブルで、また彼女よりも見知らぬ人が接近している席で楽しいわけがない。
だから、レストランはお客に満足してもらうために、すぐに大きなテーブルをカップルのために用意してほしいとおもう今日この頃である。
こうして今日も僕は３人で予約をしつづける。

That's why, when I make a reservation, I always book for 3 people. This way, you will always get a square table for four people.
Next, when you sit down, first make sure you hold the woman's chair for her when she sits down. Then, you sit down next to her at a 90 degree angle. There are many benefits to this.
First, you have much more room for everything on the table. You don't have to stare only at your date all night long.
But most importantly, this brings you and your date closer (proximity) together. Now, when you make a funny comment and she laughs, she can touch your hand or arm very easily.
But what to say when you arrive at the restaurant with reservations for 3 and there is only 2 of you? Easy, the third person is running late. 99.9% of the time, you will not have to change tables.
If the staff do ask later about number three, just say they had to cancel or will come later for a drink.
I understand that this is not very nice for restaurants who are trying to fit as many people as possible into their restaurant, but I want to have a positive and enjoyable dining experience. At tiny tables with others sitting closer to me than my date, that's not enjoyable.
So as soon as restaurants make bigger tables with more space for couples, I will continue to book for three. Gentleman Up!
