Yesterday I went to my mother’s house with my husband.

and read his Japanese book aloud in front of my mother.
I showed her his composition notebook.
He wrote very well.
My mother said, “ Ossoroshi!
This is her highest praise.
She is the only person who uses this word in her relatives.
Where did she learn it?
“Ossoroshi” means very good.
When my mother said “Ossoroshi” to the Pakistani boy,
he was confused.
He thought “Ossoroshi” was “osoroshii”,
so I explained to him that my mother was praising him for being so good.
There is only one week left until the end of the first grade.
I am happy that he is successfully moving on to the second grade.

パキスタン少年は、うちへ来て、
母の前で、国語の音読をしました。
私は、彼の作文ノートを母に見せました。
とても上手に書けています。
母は、「おっそろし」と言いました。
これは、母の最高の誉め言葉です。
親戚中でも、この言葉は母しか使いません。
どこで、身に付けた言葉でしょう？
「おっそろし」とは、とても素晴らしいという意味です。
母が、パキスタン少年に「おっそろし」と言ったので、
彼は、戸惑っていました。
彼には、「おっそろし」が、恐ろしいと聞こえてしまったので、
おばあちゃんは、すごく上手だと褒めているんだよと、
説明してあげました。
１年生の修了まで、あと１週間です。
無事に、２年生に進級できて嬉しいです。
