イケメンの若侍を失った母親の悲しみ、苦しみは、実際に自分の子供を失った経験を持たない者には決して分かり得るものではありません。 逆縁は、人が生きる上で最も辛く、過酷な試練とされております。 私は幸いにして、そのような境遇にあっておりませんが、伯父、叔母が溺愛していた中学３年生の一人息子を失い、また、会社の同僚が小学校５年のご子息を失った姿を目の当たりにしました。 その姿は見ていても痛ましく、涙が止まらず、その場から立ち去りたい気持ちに駆られるのですが、少しでも彼らの悲しみと苦しみを分かち合うために、その場から離れず必死で我慢して留まったことがあります。
一休禅師は、ある信者から元旦の席で目出度い歌を書いてほしいと頼まれたそうです。禅師は、”親死、子死、孫死”と書いたそうです。 その信者は、禅師をたいそう怒ったそうです。 禅師は、”子が親より早く死んではいけない、孫が子より早く死んでもいけない。 親が死んで、子が死に、そして、孫が死ぬ。 "これが目出度いことだ"と言ったそうです。 その信者は、人間の生死の本質に触れ、大いに感じ入ったそうです。
流祖飯篠長威斎家直先生は、１３８７年に生まれ、１０２歳で天寿を全うしました。 二代宗家飯篠若狭守盛近公の没年は不明ですが、室町時代の平均寿命から推測して、長威斎先生も逆縁を経験したのではないかと思われます。 身内のみならず、同志、同僚、仲間、部下、後輩と多くの若者が、理不尽な戦いの中で、自分より早く死んで行く様子を何度も見たと思います。 そのような中で、武術の天才であった長威斎先生が到達した境地が、人間は天地を敬い、穏やかな人生を送ることが本質であるということです。
Sadness and pain of the mother, who lost the nice-looking young worrier, are never understood by people, who do not have such an experience. Reverse order, which means a child pass away before his/her parent, is the most painful in life of human beings. Fortunately, I do not have such an experience, but I have seen my uncle and aunt who lost thier beloved 15 years old son, and my colleague who lost his 11 years old son. It was too difficult to stop tearing, and it was so hard to see them that I wanted to leave there. But I was patient in being there to share thier pain.
A famous priest, Ikkyu, was asked by one of his followers to make a happy poem on the day of new year. The priest drew "Parent die, a child dies, and then a grandchild dies". The follower was very angry at the priest. The priest said to him, "A child should not die before his/her parent, a grandchild should not die before the child. Parent die, a child die, and then a grandchild die. That is nature". The follower was very much impressed with nature of life and death.
The founder of Katori Shintoryu was born in 1387 and passed away at age of 102. I do know when Mr Morichika Iizasa, who is a son of the founder, passed away, but I think the founder experienced reverse order, taking into account average life span of Muromachi era. The founder lost a lot of young people such as friends, colleagues, surbordinates, followers, in unreasonable battles in addition to his relatives. In such a situation, the founder, who was genius in martial arts, reached a stage of what human beings live peacefully together with respected nature is the most important for human beings.
