香取神道流立合抜刀術の逆抜之太刀は、後ろから羽交締めに襲ってきた敵を刺し、前方の敵を切り捨てる居合術です。日本武道館が監修した香取神道流師範大竹利典先生の演武をYoutubeで見ることができます。目にも止まらぬ速さで、どうなっているのか分かりません。
実は、後ろから羽交締めに襲ってきた敵の又に鞘で一撃を加え、怯んだすきに刀を棟側(刃の反対側)から抜き刺し、前方からくる敵に一撃を加える技です。大竹先生から初めて逆抜之太刀を教えていただいた時は、このようなことが出来るのかと目を疑いました。
大竹先生の愛刀備前長船恒弘は、反りが7~8分(2.1~2.4cm)もありました。居合術は刃側にそって抜刀するものと思い込んでいた自分には、これほど反りのある刀を棟側にそって抜刀することが出来るとは想像もできませんでした。まさしく神の技です。
理化学研究所の小保方晴子女史は、生物細胞学の歴史を愚弄していると酷評されながらも、体細胞は未分化細胞に戻る(初期化)ことはないという常識に挑戦し、外からの刺激で体細胞を初期化し、多能性を持った細胞(STAP細胞)を作り上げました。固定観念に縛られず、常識に捕われず、ばかと罵られようと本質を見極めようとした者の勝利です。

It is the work which attacks to the enemy by the Saya of the sword, who has attacked from back to a full nelson, and flinched from, and who extracts a sword, stabs with it from the ridge side (the side opposite to an blade), and comes from the front. I could not believe it when I had Gykunuki-No-Tachi taught for the first time from Mr. Otake.
Mr Otake's beloved sword Bizen OsafuneTsunehiro had curvature as long as 2.1-2.4 cm.
As for sword drawing, I had a pre-conceived notion that a sword was drawn along with blade side so that I could not imagine the sword with the curvature was drawn along with the ridge side.
It is the work of God surely.
