ある日、その侍の住む隣の領主が香取の領内に攻め込んできました。 その侍の主である香取の地の領主は急ぎ兵を招集しました。 その侍も武具を整え、出兵の準備をしました。 翌朝、その侍の息子が床に伏せて庭を眺めていると鎧をまとった２人の幼馴染が訪れ、”お前の分まで敵を討ち取ってくれる”と言って意気揚々と引き上げてゆきました。 その侍の息子は動けない自分を恨み、深く落ち込んでしまいました。
戦は壮絶を極め、両者に大きな犠牲者を出しました。 どちらからともなく和睦の声が出始め、戦が終わりました。 その侍も無事に家に戻ることができました。 ところが、その侍の息子の２人の幼馴染が決起に走り、敵を深追いして打ち取られてしまったことが分かりました。 享年１８才でした。 ２人の葬儀が、村をあげて執り行われました。 そこには、深く悲しむ両親の姿がありました。
その侍の息子は２人の幼馴染が亡くなったことを知り、また、深く落ち込んでしまいました。 何日も何日も話すこともなくなってしまいました。 そんなある日、息子の部屋から呼ぶ声が聞こえました。 その侍は驚き、駆けつけました。 そこには、目をキラキラさせてその侍を見つめる息子がいました。 そして、”陰陽を極める”と言いました。 その侍は息子の意図を理解し、嗚咽しました。 そして、息子は陰陽を学び始めました。
陰陽は、香取神道流の兵法、戦術、築城術にとっても重要な学問です。 香取神道流師範大竹利典先生には、北に玄武（山）、東に青龍（大河）、南に朱雀（田畑）、西に白虎（大道）と街造り、城造りの方位の基本を教えていただきました。 陰陽は深く、生涯をかけて極めるに値します。 若侍の息子は左半身が動けなくとも、生涯をかけて極めるものを見つけたのです。
人の一生は万事塞翁が馬です。 何が幸運で、何が不運であったかは死ぬ間際まで分かりません。 不運が起こったと思ったことが、幸運をもたらすこともあります。 与えられた場所を受け入れ、その場所ですることを見つけ、いつも前向きにかっこよく生きてゆきましょう。 合掌
One day, a lord in the next where the samurai lives was making inroads in the territory in Katori. The lord of Katori who is the samurai's boss hurriedly summoned soldiers. The samurai arranged arms and prepared dispatching of troops, too. When the Samurai's son was ill in bed in the next morning, and looking at a garden, 2 childhood friends of the Samurai' son who wear armor came, and said" We will kill an enemy for you." and left triumphantly. The samurai's son bears a grudge against oneself who can't move and has fallen deeply.
The war was terrible and a big victim from both sides. Voice of cease-fire from both sides was heard, and the war have ended. The samurai could return to a house safely But a childhood friend of 2 people of the samurai's son who have pursued an enemy too far and have been killed. They were 18 years old. A funeral of 2 people was held by the village people. There were their parents who felt sad so deeply.
The samurai's son knew 2 childhood friends have been killed and has fallen so deeply. To speak for many days has also disappeared. Such some days and the voice called from the son's room were heard. The samurai was surprised and ran. There was the son who made an eye shine, and looked at the Samurai. And he said" I will become an expert of On-Yo" The samurai understood son's intention and sobbed. And he has begun to learn On-Yo.
On-Yo are very important for fighting ways of the Katori Shintoryu such as tactics and a building castle. Master of Katori Shintoryu, Mr Risuke Otake, taught me that Genbu deity (high mountain) in the north, blue dragon (big river) in the east, Suzaku (huge fields) in the south, white tiger (big avenue) in the west for a castellated directional basis for town & castle building. On-Yo is so deeply that it is worth studying in our life. The son found something which is worth doing during his life, though his left side of the body can't move.
Our life repeats luck and unluck. I don't know what was fortunate and what was unfortunate to the verge where I die. That I thought misfortune had happened, brought good luck. The place where it was given is accepted and always do your best at the location so positively. Gassho!
