Your exile in Wraeclast has just begun, and you’re still unsure if you’re doing things right. Don’t be afraid; even the best of the best had to go through that. To help make the transition from novice to seasoned veteran in no time, here are a few handy tips about POE Items and classes will make the start of your journey smoother.

Path to Optimization

The first thing you should take care of is not in Wraeclast, but in your home: we’re talking about the very PC you’re playing in. Make sure it’s optimized in such a way that you’re not going to experience lags and recurring freezes, as a split-second of inaction in-game can get you killed. This is especially true in tougher dungeons and leagues. Thus, it’s better to find the game configuration that will ensure that you won’t encounter hiccups of any kind.

A good example of this is by choosing Fullscreen windowed mode instead of Fullscreen mode, as the former works a lot better. You can also use third-party programs to smoothen up game performance. For example, there’s the Loot Filter that can help save you from the hassle of sifting through the loot. You’ll also have better performance because your screen won’t be as cluttered without the tool.

Classes and Crystals

Once you’ve optimized your setup, the next thing you should ponder over is choosing a class. That, of course, would depend on your personal preference and play style. Once you’ve committed to a particular class, the next thing you should plan is your build.

Classes in Path of Exile are very flexible, thanks to the fact that they share the same passive skill tree, albeit having different starting points that determine the class’s traditional abilities. That means you’ll be able to diversify your build later on according to how you want it. You can even make highly-creative builds like bow-wielding duelists and witches, tank-based Shadows, and even a spell-casting Berserker.

If you choose to go with a more out-of-the-box build, you can always experiment, follow build guides, or mix things up a bit – or a lot – with the guides that you’ve found. That’s the beauty of Path of Exile.

Speaking of experimenting, you should try your hand on the different sorts of skill gems you’ll find. By testing them one by one, you’ll eventually figure out which ones suit your particular play style, and ultimately the build you’re coming up with. Unless you’ve already decided on a build, don’t buy gems just yet; you’ll find plenty of them in your leveling phase anyway.

Leveling Before Gearing

Another important concern for you as a budding POE player is the leveling phase. It’s going to be an important part of your life in Path of Exile, but it’s not going to last forever. The items you get during this phase, however, will definitely last until the day you quit the game unless you engage in POE trading.

While you’re still leveling up your very first character, it’s safe to say that you still don’t know the game enough to determine the worth of the items you get, especially gear with five or six linked and POE orbs. Thus, you’re better off keeping them until you’ve gained enough wisdom to know which ones are useful.

Instead of modifying the gear you get, you’re better off going with Unique gear for leveling. They have great stats, and you don’t have to (as well as can’t) modify them, so there’s no danger of losing orbs.

A little knowledge is much better than none at all. Hopefully, these little tips will help you succeed as you take on Wraeclast for the very first time. Because in such a rough and unforgiving place, you’ll really need all the help you can get.
