The four pieces following this one bear only the title “Ricercar,” lacking both numbers and composer names. Therefore, strictly speaking, additional evidence is required to definitively attribute these pieces to Merulo. While I possess no such corroborating evidence, as this manuscript tends to group collections by the same composer together, I will provisionally treat them as Merulo's collections.

This piece is composed using only one theme.

This is the only piece by Erbach included on this collection. I did a little research to see if this piece exists outside of this manuscript, but I couldn't find it.

The main theme is quite deliberately crafted. I think it's a fairly experimental attempt.
