英語カフェでの一節です。ドイツ人🇩🇪のスタッフさんがW杯でのドイツ惨敗を喜んでいました。

S: スタッフさん、A: お客さん、K: 私

S: Did you see the World Cup?

A: Yeah. Germany lost at the early stage. I’m so sorry about that.

S: I’m happy that Germany lost. They deserved that. 

A: Oh, really? Why?

S: Because the Germans are way too stuck-up.

K: Stuck-up? What does it mean?

S: It means that they think they are better than anyone else. The Germans are so proud when it comes to soccer.

K: I see.

S: I’m happy to see them crying. You can’t always win. If you want to appreciate something, you have to lose as well. If you are always successful, you will never become better.

A: Yeah. That’s right.

S: So, maybe next time they will do better again now that they learned from that experience.

ドイツ人はサッカーに関して天狗👺になっており、今回その鼻が折られたということで、ざまあみろということでした。

いつも成功ばかりだと成長しない、負けることも必要であると、良いことをおっしゃってます。

ドイツの方とは何人か話したことがありますが、皆さん必ずしもサッカーに興味があるわけではないです。

興味がない人にとっては、今回の惨敗はメシウマだったのでしょう。
