flattering

こんにちは。

英語カフェでの一節です。銀座クラブの話。

S: スタッフ、A,B: お客さん、K: 私

A: Nightclubs are very interesting. In Ginza, there are many beautiful girls.

B: Is it expensive?

A: It depends on the place. But It's much more expensive compared with the clubs around here. 

B: I see.

A: We often take our customer to Ginza and pay all of the charge for them. Next time we meet them, they say thanks to us and pay a lot of money to buy our system.

K: Oh, really? Taking them to Ginza is a good investment. There's a good return for that.

A: Yeah, good investment.

S: I think that club women are baka.

A: No, they are not baka. They are professional. They know how to get money from you. You can't compare them with the girls around here.

S: Ah, I see.

B: What do you talk with them?

A: I don't care what to talk about. They are good at making the atmosphere. They make us feel comfortable by doing wassyoi-wassyoi.

S: I see. They are good at flattering.

私は、クラブやキャバクラなど、行ったことがないので区別がよく分からないのですが、英語では nightclub とか hostess bar と言うようです。

人に聞くと、そういうお店ではかなり褒められるそうで、英語では flattering （おべっか使い）という表現が最適です。

クラブやキャバクラは私にとって未知の世界なので、一度社会勉強として行ってみなければなりませんね。

ただ、キャバクラにハマりやすい性格として、

自意識過剰  self-conscious 

見栄張り  pretentious 

人見知り  shy

小心者  coward

友達少ない

などが知られていて、私はことごとく該当してしまうので、おそらく一度行くと通うことになってしまうと思います。

気をつけなければですね。
