Zaytox: That's probably true.

S: We heard that you have already met some humans.

Z: A few. I went to a vegan ramen shop in Japan and met some people.

S: We have to ask you to stop meeting with humans.

Z: Why?

S: Humanity isn't ready for alien visitors. I propose that you stay here with us in our lab.

Z: Maybe. Do you serve ramen?

D: Hi, Megu! Oh, what's wrong? You look upset.

M: It's nothing. I need to go take a shower.

D: Wait a minute. It's obvious something has happened, so please tell me.

M: It's our volleyball coach. She shouted at me, so I shouted back. Then she ordered me to go home.

D: Well, you know you should never argue with your coach like that.

M: I know, but I lost my temper.

D: You'd better apologize, or else you'll regert it.

➫「強い提案」の台本では、強い言葉遣いが基本

➫ had better は緊迫感あふれる強い表現

➫例文では「強い提案」と or else（さもないと）「提案に従わなかった場合どうなるか」の組み合わせ

The only solution here is to lay off some employees. Otherwise, we'll go bankrupt.
ここでの唯一の解決策は従業員を解雇することです。そうしなければ倒産してしまいます。


I see no alternative but to put Dad in a nursing home. He needs full-time care.
お父さんを介護施設に入れるほかはないだろう。彼には24時間介護が必要だ。


We'll have to find a way to convince them. Any idea?

彼らを説得する方法を考えなくてはならないでしょう。何かアイディアはありますか？

 

 

動詞 propose を使った例文は、2020年度では取り上げてなかったようです

 

2023年度での Key Sentence を再掲しておきます：

 

I propose that you stay here with us in our lab.

 

propose「提案する」は、suggest とは異なり、カタくフォーマルで、しっかりと練り上げた感触を伴うという解説でした（ダイアログでも科学者がゼイトクスに、丁寧だけど強い感じで提案していたように記憶しています）
