I largely agree with the idea that the most important aim of science should be to improve people's lives. This is because various products have been created with the intention of making science beneficial to us, rather than just understanding science for its own sake. For example, in the medical field, it is thanks to the power of science. Previously, cancer treatment options might have been limited to surgery or chemotherapy, but now there are treatments that target only cancer cells without using chemotherapy. This advancement is a result of scientific research progressing to save human lives.
Furthermore, the development of OpenAI accelerates the speed at which we can learn new knowledge. For instance, in learning English, we used to have to ask teachers or native speakers questions we didn't understand, but now we can simply open ChatGPT at home and get immediate answers. For example, if we write an English essay or diary, it used to be a teacher who would correct it. But now, ChatGPT can do it instead. In this way, AI helps us without needing assistance from others, thus increasing our learning speed.
Of course, the field of science does not exist solely for the sake of humanity, but given that it is being used to develop products, I agree with this topic.
