６月12日(日)まで、目黒川沿いのカフェ「drole」
に、
手作りのZINEを展示します。 exhibition PANAMA BOOKS in Tokyo at Cafe drole in Naka-Meguro from 02/06/2011 to 12/06/2011
イタリアで買ってきた、ハンドメイドの紙を使って、
てのひらサイズのちいさな本をつくりました。 I made a very small book with my illustration.
花のうしろに何かがかくれています。 You can find something small behind the cut-out papers each turn of a page.
こちらは、販売用のもの。４冊だけ作りました。 This is the other version for sale.
このケースに使ってる紙も、イタリアで買ったハンドメイドの物。
葉っぱが練り込まれています。
はみ出してきた葉っぱが、それぞれかわいい感じ。 For its cover I used the hand-made paper with real leaves on. I like leaves sticking out beyondf the book cover's surface.
右上の赤い「ケイトウ」のカードをうらがえすと、、 When you turn over the card on the top right with a drawing
"red cockscomb", you can find......
出来上がりは、こんな感じです。 These are the paintings I made in the shared room.
玄関。 entrance
床からシルバーのラインが立ち上り、 You can see silver line from the floor at the entrance,
壁面の郵便受けの中を抜け、 to an the back wall of the mail box space
天井をとおって、 and to the ceiling
階段部分、こんな感じです。 and then you can see the line spreads like this when you are at the top of the stairs.
そして、そこから靴を脱ぎ、 you have to take off your shoes here.
左から、シャワールーム、
女子トイレ、男子トイレと続きます。 this is shower and laundry room, female bathroom and male bathroom from left respectively.
そして、箱スペースへ。 And then you enter the living space.
箱は、こんな感じ。
正面から見ると、 this is one of the boxes there. you can see the drawing like this.
そして横から見ると、
かめ。 this is a turtle.

みたいなのが14個。 There are 14 boxes like the above.
絵のコンセプトは、登竜門。 The concept is " Dragon gate". I developed the story from traditional Japanese fork tale.
こんなふうに14個の箱がありました。
現在、居住しやすいように、箱を３つ減らして11個の箱があります。 There were 14 cube boxes in the big room, but now we moved 3 boxes out to improve the space.
住む人が自分たちで作っていく、空間。 and the residents themselves are improving it. They create their space.

このとき私は、ジンベイザメと泳いでいたので、、
残念ながら、参加できず、でしたが、
この様子を見るだけでもわくわくです。 I am soooo regret I didn't join it because I was snorkeling with Whale sharks in the philipins sea.
I'm sure this event was better than mine....
今度ぜったい遊びに行きます。 I'll visit there.
久々にブログ書いたら、書きたいことがたくさんあった。
次回はジンベイザメの話かな。。
肝心のボローニャブックフェアの話とか、
パリで訪れたアーティストさんのアトリエの話とか。 Writing this article has made me feel like doing
more about other topics. About swimming with whale sharks,
about Bologna children's book fair and so on.
その前にひとまず、明日から、
避難所で開催されるワークショップのお手伝いに言ってきます。
福島の南相馬市からスタートです。 Anyway I'll leave for Fukushima tomorrow to help "ARTS for HOPE" with workshops for mental therapy for refugees.
箱ハウスは、
上野と浅草の間にあって、どちらも徒歩圏内。 The shared room with box houses is located just midway between Ueno and Asakusa and easily accessible on foot there.
天気がよかったので、
上野から箱ハウスまで歩いてみました。 The weather got much better in the afternoon, so I had a walk from Ueno station to the room.
浅草通りを、歩きます。
仏具屋さんが並んでいます。 I was walking down the Asakusa street with many shops which sell Buddhist objects.
これは台東区役所。
手前の右ふたつの建物がかわいい。 This big white building is Taitoh Ward office. I like two buildings in front of the office.
仏具屋さんたちの間に、
彫刻刀やさん、和太鼓やさん、神社などもあります。 Some traditional Japanese shops, shrines and temples are
along this street. This is a wood chisel shop,
which is used for Butsuzou.(たぶん)
こんな和紙やさんも！大好き。
きれいなはがきや封筒が。 I found this great Japanese paper shop. You can get these nice post cards, envelops and so on.
２、３階のショールームには、
障子やふすま、壁紙などの見本が並びます。素敵。 It has showrooms in which are displayed a lot of Interior products made of the papers.
ふすまの持ち手。こんなにたくさん。かわいい。 They are Fusuma pulls. There are numerous variations. Bulbul shape. crane shape.
こんなふすまとかもいい。 And this is a modern patterned Fusuma. Nice.
エレベーターと階段まわりの壁には、
淡いきれいな色の和紙が、市松模様に貼られています。 The wall around the steps and the elevator is wallpapered with softly-colored papers chekered.
モダンな和紙を使ったシェアハウスなんかも、
あるとおもしろそう。 I'm interested in living in a shared house designed with modern patterned Japanese paper.
寄り道その１でした。
銀座線稲荷町駅（箱ハウスから10分ちょっと）を通りすぎ、
合羽橋商店街へ。 After my first stopping I was passing INARI-CHO station on Tokyo Metro Ginza line (about 10min. walk from the room) to Kappabshi-shopping street.
どーん。 Wow!
合羽橋の気合いを感じる入り口です。 This gate make me sit up...
プロ用の調理器具や、さまざまなジャンルの食器、
店舗用品、お菓子のパッケージや包装紙などが、
ずらりと並びます。
800メートルの商店街、170のキッチン用品ショップが並ぶ。 You can find almost every kind of restaurant equipment imaginable, including bakery equipment, Japanese, Western,
and Chinese tableware, china, laquerware, restaurant equipment,
packaging, containers, decorative goods, "fake" food samples,
chefs' coats, signs, noren (shop curtains), bamboo wares,
baking ingredients, food and beverage ingredients,
confectionary wholesalers, Japanese furniture, Western furniture,
kitchen equipment, refrigerators and refrigerated showcases,
showcases, displays, shop design and construction services, and much more. At 800 meters (nearly a half-mile) in length, and with over 170 shops, this is Japan’s largest shopping street devoted to kitchen implements.
かなりあつい。 This street is so exciting.
和紙の貼られたかわいい茶筒。 Tea cans with Japanese paper.

ちなみに箱ハウスについてる、号数を表す数字も、
合羽橋商店街で発見しました。 I found the iron numbers which shows room number on the boxes in this Kappabashi-shopping street.
上野から、
数々の誘惑に負け寄り道をして、歩いて40分。 It took 40 min. for me to enjoy walking and shopping
from Ueno station.
合羽橋商店街の反対側のはじっこの、
この合羽橋珈琲で、ちょっと休憩。
珈琲もケーキもおいしいです。 At last I had a good coffee and cake at Kappabashi coffee which is located at the end of the shopping street.
ここが、箱ハウスから徒歩２分くらい。 This coffee shop is 2min. walk distance from the room.
作業中、ペンキだらけの手で、通いました。
入れてもらえるかどきどきしながら 笑。 I always visited there to have coffee when I was painting.
ちなみに、上野から、
合羽橋商店街を通らずに最短距離を選ぶと、
15分ちょっとくらいです。 If you take the shortest way and don't stop off anywhere you can get to the room about 15min. from Ueno station.
箱ハウス、撮影の前のひとときでした。 This was my wonderful time before shooing the box houses.
祝！入居者ひとり決定。
嬉しい。 I have a good news. We've got the first resident of this shared house.
この箱ハウス。
冗談みたいな企画なので、
話を聞いた人は大体、
｢へー。住むには狭くない？箱でしょ？ドミトリー？」
というリアクション。 You must be thinking this house was made as a kind of joke. Almost all the people who'd known about it said "Wow! What an interesting space it is! But the cube rooms must be
too small and uncomfortable to live in coz they're just boxes."
でも、この箱、すごいのです。 But they aren't. These boxes are very steady and functional. And you can customize it to the way you like it.
実際に見に来てくださった方々は、
ちゃんとしててびっくりした、住めそう！
という感想で帰って行きます。 "Amazing. Now I'm interested in living here." " Nice boxes for living everyday life with house mates." I had these kind of comments from the people
who came and see the space. (言い過ぎ？）
無駄に（すみません）ちゃんと作られてて、面白い箱。
これがポイント。
本気の遊びなのです。 They're the very boxes to live in. We're always serious.
まずこれ。 I'll show you our seriousness about the boxes and the space.
キャスターがついてて移動できるのですが、
ちゃんと土台にしっかり鉄骨が入ってる。
右側に移ってる鉄骨の上に、箱はつくってあります。 These boxes are movable. They are on the iron frames(right side in the picture) with wheels.
そしてドアはこれ。 And this is the door.
ベニアじゃないです。
鍵もしっかり。 It isn't veneer board. Of course the door can be locked fast.
窓も、ちゃんと開くし、鍵もかかる。 It has a nice working window with a key.
天窓も、この通り。 It has also a window on the ceiling.
これは、天井に近いため、鍵はないですが、
人が入る心配はありません。 It hasn't a key because there's little space between the box and the ceiling of the big room.
電気は、箱についているこのアニメチックなコンセントを、
天井のレールにさして、箱へとります。 You can get electricity with this strange plug into the track on the ceiling.
移動して、好きな場所で、レールにさします。
箱の中には、上と下にコンセント。 after you move your house to wherever you like.
The box has sockets inside.
ちなみに、天井のレールを活用すれば、
箱の外の空間でも、
天井から電源をとることができます。 You can also get electricity for your electronic devices when you aren't in your box but outside the box.
エアコンは、業務用のものが4台。 Four commercial-quality air conditioners are equipped in the big room.
これで、十分な温度に。 They work very well.
そして、せまいせまい、というイメージの箱ですが、
入ってみると、結構広く感じます。
天井が、普通の家よりも高いのです。 And the height of the box makes you feel largeness
when you enter into it though you think this box's small
and that's right enough.
It's higher than that of common rooms in Japan. I examined it from my own experience.
最初、箱ハウスに絵を描く、という話が来たときに、
実物大を作ろうとしてみました。段ボールで。 When I had the offer to draw on box houses in a big room I tried to make a full sized cardboard box in my own work room.
幅と奥行きがそんなに大きいわけではないので、
自分の部屋で作れるもの、と、思い込み。 I thought for sure that I could make it in my room because the width and depth of the box weren't so wide.
でっかい段ボールを買って、
家の中で組み立てようとするも、、
高さが足りず、断念。
(最初に自分の部屋のサイズ確認しようよ。。） So I bought enough quantities of cardboards and put them together, but! The lowness of my room made me give the trial up.
ピラルクはうれしそう。 Pirarucu, my dog, looked very happy to run on the boards.
なので、
上のほうに、おしゃれに収納をつけたり、
ベッドを高くして、ベッドしたに収納したり、
問題なくできます。 That's why this box's high enough to put some storage cabinets over or under your bed.
そして、
箱だけでなく、箱のまわりの空間も、
自分仕様に作り上げて使える、としたら、
全然狭くない。 In addition you can use the space around your box as you like.
オープンカフェ気分の机、とか、屋外本棚、とか、できる。 for example, to make a workspace with desk, bookshelf or relaxing space with sofa and coffee table.
奥にひとりひとつずつ鍵付きロッカーもあるので、 Each one of you have your own locker with a key.
そこと箱の中、まわりを使うと、収納も、大丈夫。 It's enough space to live in when you have your box, your locker, your space around the box.
なのです。
そして、箱に関しては、DIYし放題。
釘うちとかもOKなので、自分仕様に、できます。
カスタマイズしてもらうため、工具や脚立も準備。 And you can customize your box as you like. We put a tool kit and a pair of steps in the shared house for your DIY.
これが、箱ハウス。
本気です。 This is the box houses we made. We mean it.
