The boyfriend and let me commence in regards to the precise same time, type up our fight leves, do our local leves while we wait around for friends, after which chain our leves just like a whole mish mash of friends.
If it doesn't happen on opening day? Then i am hoping people will wait around for me the subsequent day, as i've a 5 hour running performance interview the up returning evening starting at 8:30 a.m. it's susceptible to probably be genuinely wonderful if they did, generally since it could be an good method to hold out what i am hoping will probably be considered a wonderful day. The World of FINAL FANTASY XIV
FINAL FANTASY XIV takes place on the world of Hydaelyn, a planet much like another you all may be familiar with. Many of the people on Hydaelyn do not actually use the word ‘Hydaelyn,’ for to understand the concept of a planet, one must first know of other worlds, and most on Hydaelyn do not.?
?
FINAL FANTASY XIV takes place in a realm known as Eorzea.?
* Eorzea is one of three continents that make up a giant land mass.?
* Eorzea consists of Aldenard and its surrounding islands.?
* Aldenard is connected to the land mass containing the other two continents via a land bridge,?
* Eorzea contains several independently governed city-states, like those found in ancient Greece.?
* And just like those in Greece, the ones in Eorzea have a long history of war and alliances.
* The few that have lasted longest are the thalassocracy of Limsa Lominsa, the commercial sultanate of Ul’dah, and the forest city-state of Gridania, which some users have commented reminds them of an ancient Japanese polis.
?
* However, the powerful and aggressive Garlean Empire has begun their slow advance on the city-states, making the current situation in Eorzea similar to the months before the Persian Empire marched on Greece.
City-state Scenarios
[ Limsa Lominsa ]

?
[ Other ]

Battle
Enmity in Party Battles?
For Open Beta we adjusted the amount of enmity received when using magic and abilities. However, we are not yet done, and will continue making adjustments up through and after the game’s release. We realize adding new quests, equipment, abilities, monsters, etc will directly affect the current balance, and therefore will continue making adjustments throughout the course of the game’s lifespan.?
?
Recovering MP?
Our original plan was to make MP management an important factor in the game, and we designed the game so players would have to carefully consider when and where to use MP. Rather than having weak spells that can be used over and over for minimal damage, we wanted to make magic powerful─something that delivers a single strike of massive damage and can instantly change the tide of a battle.?
While maintaining this concept we will not only be conducting adjustments on existing methods to refresh MP (such as Aetheryte, abilities, and magic spells), but also plan on adding new methods.?
Battle Regimens?
Battle regimens work to broaden battle strategies for parties, as well as make it easier to form parties. Unlike the skillchains of FINAL FANTASY XIV, battle regimens are not only for dealing damage, but also can be used to produce the following effects:
* Lowers a target’s physical defense (normal attack -> normal attack)?
* Maintains the effectiveness of class abilities when used by different classes?
(magic spell -> magic spell (both from same class))?
(weaponskill -> weaponskill (both from same class))
* Increases player damage?
(weaponskill -> weaponskill -> magic spell (weaponskills from different classes, finishing spell is optional))?
(magic spell -> magic spell -> weaponskill (spells from different classes, finishing weaponskill is optional))
For example, when fighting a monster that has high physical defense, a regimen which will lower that defense is effective. On the other hand, when fighting a monster that uses magic attacks, a regimen that slows casting time and increases MP cost is recommended.?
Part Damage?
On some monsters, players will be able to damage individual parts such as arms and legs. For example, vines can be cut from morbols, and horns and tails can be struck from monsters that have them Parts can be damaged by using certain weaponskills while standing in certain positions.
The effect will not only be visual, but will accomplish the following:
* Weaken the monster?
* Prevent the monster from using its special attacks?
* Allow the player to obtain the damaged part?
Notorious Monsters?
* Soon Notorious Monsters will make their appearance in FFXIV.?
* Most will appear different from regular monsters.?
* Some are so large they will make regular morbols seem small.?
?
Post-Release?
In addition to what was announced here today, we are also planning massively multiplayer battles.?
There currently exist several class abilities which may have players scratching their heads as to how they are to be used. Many of these were designed with PVP in mind. While we cannot reveal much regarding PvP now, we have some exciting announcements planned for the near future.
Crafting and the World Economy
Concept?
In MMOs, we realize that crafting and the world economy are both extremely important gameplay aspects. This is why we went out of our way to make independent crafting classes rather than simply have crafting skills attached to other classes. We have designed a system that will allow players to feel like their actions (crafting, gathering, buying & selling through bazaars) are directly affecting the economy.?
?
The Effect of Player Status on Crafting & Gathering?
A player’s physical and elemental statuses greatly affect crafting and gathering. There are many hints within the game that reveal which statuses affect which aspects.?
[ Crafting ]
Attributes: Works in conjunction with the type of tool used to affect synthesis quality?
Elemental: Affects the occurrence rate of “god sends,” as well as synthesis stability?
?
[ Gathering ]?
Physical: Affects the number of items harvested, as well as the drop rate?
Elemental: Affects the type of crystals that can be obtained during gathering?
Parley?
Parley is a method other than battle in which players can obtain items. Players choose ‘topics’ and then play a game using painted tiles. If you defeat your NPC opponent, you earn the right to exchange the items you have for those you need. If you do especially well, you can obtain even greater rewards.?
Market Wards?
We do not want the extent of a Disciple of the Hand/Land’s stay in Eorzea to be about simply putting the items he creates/gathers up for auction, which is why we have envisioned a bazaar-driven economy in which players can be creative in the methods they use to sell their wares. To better achieve this, we are currently working on ways to increase a players’ ease of using the markets by adding additional features, as well as tweaking existing ones.?
?
Retainers?
We are aware of the amount of time it took to buy items from retainers, and so we have been working diligently to make this system quicker and smoother by the time of release. Also, we are looking into ways to make it easier for players to buy and sell items through retainers.
?
Inventory Response Time?
We are fully aware that inventory interface response speed needs to be improved.?
At the time of release, we hope to have made significant improvement, and plan to continue our work after release as well.
Guildleves
Open Beta GLs?
First, we would like to apologize to all of the Open Beta testers for the frequent client side errors that occurred during levequests. We are working hard to make sure all the problems are solved by the time the game is officially released.?
?
Retrying Levequests?
Levequest targets give players many times more EXP and skill points than normal monsters (even if not using guardian aspect). To prevent some players from taking advantage of this system by completing most of a levequest, failing on purpose, and then trying the quest again immediately, we have made it impossible to retry a levequest immediately after failing it. However, this does not mean players are not allowed to retry levequests. By returning and talking to the NPC who issued the quest, players can gain the opportunity to retry the quest objectives.?
?
Guildleve Issuing?
Currently, players must wait 2 earth days before being reissued a leve. However, we planning a significant reduction in this wait.?
In conjunction with this change, we will also be shortening the amount of time anima takes to recharge.
Guildleves have been designed with several different features that allow for players to cooperate with others to complete the corresponding quests. For example, ‘leve linking’ allows two players with the same leve to join their guildleves to receive a reward bonus. ‘Leve sharing’ allows people without a leve to participate in a party with a person who does.
The level recommendations on guildleves are a loose guideline for solo players. We encourage players looking for a challenge to join up with other adventurers and try their hands at more difficult leves.?
The Future of Guildleves?
We are planning the implementation of many different types of guildleves in the near future.
First, several high-level leves will be introduced. Among those will be leves with not only new rules, but new monsters and new operation locations. Also, to answer the demand from our players, we will be introducing guildleve-based NM battles shortly.?
We also ask that our players try out the Faction Leves that were introduced in Open Beta and are only accessible by special means. These leves are different from regular ones, and often involve exciting battles and interactions with NPCs. The rewards are also much better.
In addition, we are currently working on several new ideas such as leves in which Disciples of the Land and Hand must cooperate with Disciples of War and Magic to complete certain tasks.
The following is a list of some of the things we have planned for the upcoming release:
* Implementation of a hardware mouse feature
* Introduction of discounted monthly fee payment plans (3-month plan in Japan/ 3 and 6 month plans in North America and Europe)
* Raising of the level cap to 50?
* Adjustment of the Armoury System UI so player abilities will not reset when changing classes.
As a veteran MMO player, I knew that the best way to speed through the leveling process and get in to the endgame was with a comprehensive guide. I found this unofficial Final Fantasy XIV Guide and found that it really delivers on its promises. It was not long before I was blazing through levels and collecting enough gil to fully finance everything I needed to do in game.
Having looked at several other guides, I can say that this is hands down, the best, most comprehensive FFXIV guide available. I used it to outlevel my friends who had picked up other guides and I still use it when I need information on endgame content and gear.
I have the additional comfort of knowing that I will get all of the free updates to the guide. Given the quality of the guide, I am very confident that the updates will keep me ahead of the curve, earning gil and the best gear available in Hydaelyn for years to come.
It was easy to tell the other people who purchased this guide, since we all found ourselves outleveling the other players we knew. As a guild leader, I seek these folks out because I know that they have all the information that they need to be successful in leveling and endgame content.
If you are a player who is looking to get ahead, do not bother with any other FFXIV Guide. The unofficial Final Fantasy XIV Guide is all that you will need. If you are looking to get in to my guild, it is necessary for you to have all the skills and knowledge that you can learn from this guide. You can try to figure it out on your own, or you can just pick up the guide and more or less ensure your own success in Final Fantasy XIV.

We're a bit late with this, but the Open Beta for the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV mmorpg will be ending on September 19, according to the Official Final Fantasty XIV Twitter page.
That's three days before the release of the Collector's Edition and 10 days before the Standard Edition release. The PS3 version of the game has yet to see a beta test, but the PS3 version won't be out until March. Going by the way SE has done the PC beta test, don't expect the PS3 beta test to begin any time soon.
Despite a lot of controversy surrounding certain aspects of the game and what some consider to be a rather short beta period, it actually looks like SE is determined to release the game as planned. SE has been releasing a constant stream of patches over the course of the Open Beta, so it's obvious they are working hard on getting things ready in time for release. How many changes we'll actually see in retail remains to be seen. We have a little less than a week left, so if you haven't taken the chance to test the game out before release, now's the time.
Apparently not everything about Final Fantasy XIV is serious business.
Upon reviewing the Guildleves in our database, we couldn’t help but notice the number of pop-culture references embedded in the quest names. Some of the references are obvious – others, not so much. Also interesting is that nearly half of these references refer to songs, movies and games from the 1980s. That’s probably an indication of Square Enix’s target demographic as well as the ages of the company’s writers.
Here are just a few Guildleves named after pop-culture references – do you know where they’re from?

If you are familiar with Final Fantasy XI, you most likely have either been a part of or seen the use of renkei a.k.a. Skill Chain. These were typically a succession of acquired special attacks that, when done properly, would result in an attack that would add a boost of damage against the mob. Battle Regimens in Final Fantasy XIV takes the place of Skill Chains by allowing the players to do coordinated attacks that allow for the mob not only to be attacked but to be given various status effects.
As of open beta, engaging in Battle Regimen might not always work as they are currently buggy. This guide will be updated as the game is launched into retail, becomes more stabilized, or as more information is found out.
Starting Out: You Gotta Hit It First!
First, in order to participate in a Battle Regimen, you must be engaged with a mob! Battle Regimens will not work unless you are engaged, so don't try to get smart and think you can inflict the mob with a special effect before the start of battle-- I tried several times.
"Battle Regimen Mode" and Stacking Attacks
Second, it is important to decide the order of attacks so that you know who is starting and who is ending. For this example, I will go first with Heavy Strike and Orophen will follow up with Light Slash. To start off after engaging the mob, we will select "Battle Regimen Mode" on the far left of our action bar.
Upon selecting this, you will then select which action you want to stack for the Battle Regimen. Mine is Heavy Strike. You will know that your party member has selected their regimen and when your turn is next when you see the follow effect:
After Orophen sees this he will select his attack, Light Slash. If you aren't sure what has been stacked, the game conveniently tells you so on the right hand side with the top being the most recently stacked action:
Now To "Begin" Your Regimen!
When all the attacks have been stacked, it is now time to finish things up. To avoid confusion as to who should finish this up, Orophen and I have decided that the last person who stacked their attack should be the one to "Begin Battle Regimen". For this example, that will be Orophen:
Because things are buggy at the moment, you might need to press this button more than once. Sometimes it has taken us up to three tries before it will finally execute. When it executes, each attack will go off consecutively and under the mob's name will be an icon letting you know what status effect it is inflicted with-- as long as the attacks land. Yes, just like weapon skills, a Battle Regimen is not always 100% and can miss.
What Has Worked:
As of now, we know of the following combinations that work but currently do not know what their status means:
Light Strike + Phantom Dart = Regiment of Trauma
Light Strike + Heavy Strike = Regiment of Ruin
Light Stab + Light Strike = Regiment of Ruin
Light Slash + Light Strike = Regiment of Ruin
Things to note:
1.) Right now we found that you don't have to go with the particular order we listed, BUT it makes it tidy to at least know who is going first and last so that you know who you're following up and who is in charge of selecting "Begin Regimen Mode". If you try to do it at the same time, you'll just end up with errors and a lot of confusion. Try to set things out cleanly and you should have little to no problems with execution.
2.) Its buggy. Sometimes it will execute with one click, and sometimes it has taken as many as three to four.
3.) The starter abilities have worked fine. We would like to try with a third to see if we can stack even more debuffs on the mob this way.
4.) Each status effect has its own icon, but Orophen and I do not know what they are. We are going to make a bold assumption that:
Melee + Melee = A melee type of status effect.
Melee + Mage = Allows for mage type of status effect; weakness against elementals maybe?
Mage + Mage = We haven't tried this yet.
5.) No self Battle Regimens... yet.
Everyone is welcome to give their thoughts and contributions to this article, and it will be updated accordingly. A new section might be created for working combinations plus their status effects.
Being a fisher cat, I had better learn how to fish. Fishing in FFXIV is a little more involved then your typical MMO. It isn't a cast and forget type fishing that most games have and as a result makes it a bit of a challange. The the system they have is essentially a hot and cold mini-game. Special thanks to those on Vent who gave me a few tips to get started with. Gearing up
Before you can fish you have to have at least the basic equipment. In Gridania visit Humphrey in the Rosewood Stalls. He provides both Fishing and Mining supplies.
You'll need at least the following to get started:
Weathered Fishing Rod
The fishing rod is equipped to your Main slot.
660 gil
For fishing in rivers, ponds, or streams you'll need:
Stack of Bloodworms
This is a bait that equips to your Pack slot
99 x 3 gil = 297 gil
For ocean fishing you'll need:
Stack of Lugworm
This is also bait that equips to your Pack slot
99 x 3 gil = 297 gil
The fishing secondary can also be purchased here:
Bronze Gig
The Bronze Gig equips to your Offhand slot (sub)
936 gil
I believe this is used in spear fishing.
Abilities
Before we get to the actual fishing, there's a few things you need to know about being a fisher. Mostly your available actions:
Stone Throw
Simply put you pick up a stone and throw it. You only deal 1 point of damage however. Don't think this will bring anything down. All it does is annoy them.
Wrist Flick
Now here's the reason you have Stone Throw. Used in combination this will stun your attacker momentarily. This gives you a few seconds to run away and equip something a little more useful.
Gulleye
One of two abilities you get early on in fishing. This tells you the nearest school of fish available to catch. It tells you the general direction and the distance you are from them in Yalms.
Dowse
This is similar to Gulleye however this gives you the general overview of the area your in telling you how many schools of fish in several directions. Useful when you're trying to see what else is out there to fish up.
Okay, now we have that out of the way let's get our feet wet and actually fish.
Basics of Fishing
To start out, begin by visiting the nearest body of water. This can be a pond in the middle of Gridania or the rivers and streams outside. When you get near or in the water you'll notice a symbol along the top of the screen indicating there is an interaction available.
Bring up your menu and select Fish:
Once you've cast your line, you'll be presented with an option to set your depth.
This simply indicates what level of the water your searching in. If for any reason you don't get a nibble or bite, you'll want to change your depth to see if you can find fish.
Once your lure sinks to your designated depth, the waiting game begins. It'll takes a few seconds but you'll get one of three possible responses. A nibble, a bite, or nothing at all. If you get a nibble or bite, you'll be given two options, wait or jig.
(Continued due to image post limit)
Choosing wait will allow for either a nibble to turn into a bite but this can backfire too so use this with caution.
The second option is jig. Jig is to get the fish to bite and initiate the golf-swing meter. This meter will have a blue dot which will go back and forth along the meter. You have to tell it to stop before it'll tell you a result of your jig. The golf meter represents the angle upon which you jig the line. Based on what I've read and what I've tried, the best zones to stop the first dot is to the left or right of the word 'Cast'. Once stopped, the meter turns orange.
The response will tell you roughly how well the jig worked:
You've hooked something but cannot reel it in.
I'm really not sure but I think this is the initial sign that your roughly on the right track and you'll need to go left or right of that position to begin reeling in the fish.
The fish is taking line.
You've gone a little bit in the wrong direction and the fish is getting some slack.
You take in some line.
Your getting close to the right spot.
You take in a great deal of line.
Your very close to the right spot.
As you use jig or wait, you'll notice a meter called Remainder shrink.
If this hits zero before you can reel in the fish, you'll lose the fish. That being said, if your weakened from getting KO'd, wait before doing any fishing else you just end up wasting bait.
Another thing to note, if you hear a bell or chime when your fishing and see a glow at the tip of your fishing pole, you'll want to land the next jig right on top of where you last where. This usually pulls in the fish.
Hopefully this'll get you started fishing. Hopefully I can add more to this or someone can make a much ore involved guide.
Spearfishing
Oh yes, if you are curious what the glowing gather point in the water is for, this is spearfishing. This requires the secondary tool to be able to harvest this point. Surprising to say that even though you have all these elaborate mini-game for fishing, spearfishing is just that. You whip out the bronze gig and you auto harvest. So far from my attempts, it's been mostly frogs and bugs, which i guess you can use for fishing as well.
Other Helpful things to know...
Since fishing is a job by itself, it's a bit of a pain to manually switch equipment around. There's a trick available that'll make it easy.
Bring up the menu and go to configurations. Among the list is the option for Macros, You can build a macro that can equip all your fishing gear as well as your actions.
Here's a sample of the macro I use:
/echo Switching to Fishing Gear
/equip main "Weathered Fishing Rod"
/equip sub "Bonze Gig"
/equip pack Lugworm
/equipaction 2 "Wrist Flick"
/equipaction 3 "Gulleye"
/equipaction 4 "Dowse"
For more information about macros, check out Maiev's article on Macros:
Now that we are a little more than a week into the open beta, it is only natural that impressions are being formed for those traversing the lands of Eorzea either for the first time or in its extended glory towards the lands of Ul'dah and Gridania. If you are in open beta, tell us of what has surprised you about Final Fantasy XIV that you never thought possible!
As for myself, I know people following me on twitter or listening to me ramble elsewhere has often heard me praise Puglist. This may sound crazy to some, but I have never been a huge hand-to-hand fan. Yet something about punching your opponent's face (or knee) in with some awesome crits is just phenomenal! Especially when you're a pink haired munchkin. There is definitely more to this game that has tickled my fancy and definitely surprise me-- you'll just have to wait for Orz Cast episode three to find out what it is
if you want to buy much ffxiv gil
,you can load a safe site.
Right now, Square Enix has been keeping quiet on Final Fantasy XIV since the Tokyo Game Show, with only occasional updates on jobs and gameplay systems. Most of players are ready to join Final Fantasy XIV world. Some of them have begun to gather ffxiv gold store. If you never play Final Fantasy series, we suggest you read some detail beta of FFXIV firstly. At the annual VanaFest event, held in Tokyo on the 28th, the company gave preliminary details about alpha and beta test programs for FFXIV. The company said that starting today (March 1), it would begin contacting players who were lucky enough to be selected for the tests. In addition, all attendees at the VanaFest received invites.
While it did not say exactly when the beta and alpha tests would begin, March 11 will see the opening of a beta tester site which can only be viewed by testers. If you are ready, please show your ffxiv store. The alpha will, of course, take place before the beta. During an interview session following VanaFest, producer Hiromichi Tanaka said the length of the alpha test would be determined by player feedback. VanaFest is actually a Final Fantasy XI event, and Square Enix had plenty to announce for the long running MMORPG. Announcements included a gradual level cap increase to level 99 and the Abyssea series of battle-oriented add-ons. Attendees were captivated for over three hours of stage events, including live FFXI music.
