Do I live to smile or I smile to live?

Today is the opening day for Curse of the Golden Flower.. so I went to watch it~~

Well, the story is rather sad, and it feels like the first chinese flim with a Tang dynasty setting which I feel has the most 'bling blings'... I mean, what the.... The whole movie is nothing but gold, so sparkly, so yellow, I was almost blinded by the empress' bling blings.

Okay, back to the story... So it is like this story is taken place in this fictitious setting in the Tang dynasty... Chow Yun Fat is the emperor, Gong Li is the empress, Jay Chou is the 2nd prince; He has a scandalous and stupid elder brother and a very emo younger brother. So the elder brother has this very scandalous affair with the empress... Don't worry, this is not incest, he is her stepson. Okay, then emperor knows about it and adds some creepy thingy in the empress' medicine to gradually poison her to death. So at this point of time, Prince Jay Chou comes into the picture when he returns to the palace after leaving for 3 years~~~ Mommy tells him about what evil things that Daddy has done to her and wants to form a coup to make daddy abdicate his throne, Jay being the very foolishly filial son, he said okay, because he does not wanna see mommy drink more poison... So, it is set, the emperess ordered the embroidery department to sew 10, 000 chrysanthemum scarves for her coup and Jay shall be the leader~

Okay, I shall not reveal much anymore. I think that the story is rather average, but the imagery just wowed me over and over, not just the clothing alone, but the battling scenes, the red that flowed so nicely and landed on the chrysanthemums~ (*_*) The ending was pretty whooooaaaa, those who needed to die didn't die, while those who does not need to die died. (-""-;)

So over all, I give this movie~~ ☆☆☆ and a half~
