映画「生きる・LIVING」　

　第2次世界大戦後、1953年のロンドン市役所。市民課長ウィリアムズは、頑固だが、事なかれ主義の役人だ。面倒な問題は、他の課にまわすか、放置する。

ある日、彼は、医者からガンで余命６ヶ月と告げられる。生きている内に半年間どう生きたか、がテーマだ。仕事を放棄し、海辺のリゾート地で酒を飲んで馬鹿騒ぎするも満たされない。

ロンドンで、かつての若い部下マーガレットと再会、素直でバイタリティある彼女と付き合い、自分も新しい一歩を踏み出すことを決意する。そして、ほったらかしにした、子どもの遊び場の再生に取り掛かる・・・

かつて黒沢明監督で作られた名作映画「生きる」をリメイク、ノーベル賞作家カズオ・イシグロが脚本を書いた。イギリスの志村喬も良かった。

私も、あと何年生きられるか？　元気でいられるか？　を考える年になった。私も、意味ある事、新しいことにチャレンジすべきか、と頭をよぎったけど・・・

　London City Hall in 1953 after World War II. Citizens Division Chief Williams is stubborn(頑固), but he leaves troublesome(面倒な問題) issues to other sections or neglects(ネグレクト) them. One day he is told by his doctor that he has cancer and only six months to live. The theme is how he lived for six months while he was still alive.

He quits(ほったらかし) his job and goes to a seaside resort to drink and have fun, but it's not satisfying. In London, he reunites(再会) with his former young subordinate(部下) Margaret, he touched her honest and vitality, and decides to take a new step forward. Then he gets to work refurbishing(再生) his neglected children's playground...

A remake of Akira Kurosawa's classic movie "Ikiru", written by Nobel Prize winner Kazuo Ishiguro.

British Takashi Shimura was also good.

How many more years can I live, can I stay healthy? I've reached the age to think about.　I also wondered if I should try something meaningful and new, but...
