九品仏
極楽浄土に生まれるのに、この世の生き方によって9種類がある。非の打ちどころがない善人は臨終のとき、仏が迎えにきて即座に極楽に往生できるのを「上品上生」と言う。以下、上品中(ちゅう)生、上品下(げ)生、中品上生、中品中生、中品下生、下品上生、下品中生と続く。最後の下品下生は、極悪非道の行為を繰り返した者が、臨終のとき、念仏を唱えたことによって往生できることをいう。浄真寺にはこの思想をあらわした九体の阿弥陀仏がある。
世田谷奥沢にある浄真寺を訪ねた。善男善女ばかりだからみな、極楽往生できるだろう。でも、ちょっと悪いことした記憶もあるから、中ぐらいかなとも思う。そこで、阿弥陀様に「南無阿弥陀仏」とお願いした。
浄真寺は、江戸時代初めに建立された浄土宗に寺である。３年に一度、僧たちが仏の面をかぶって阿弥陀仏が現れる「めんかぶり」と行事が有名である。
このあと、等々力渓谷、野毛大塚古墳、五島美術館などを訪ねた一日だった。
Kuhonbutsu
There are nine types of rebirth in the Pure Land, depending on how one lives in this world. When a perfect and good person is on his deathbed, the Buddha will come to pick him up and immediately rebirth in Pure Land. This is called " high quality upper class". Below, it continues with high quality middle class, high quality low class, middle quality high class, middle quality middle class, middle quality low class, low quality high class, low quality middle class, The final low quality low class, means that a person who has repeatedly committed atrocious acts can be reborn by chanting the Nembutsu at the time of death.
At Joshinji Temple, there are nine Amidabutsu statues that represent this idea.
We visited Joshinji Temple in Okusawa, Setagaya Ward. There are only good men and good women, so everyone will be able to do Pure Land. But I also have memories of doing a little bad things, so I think it's in the middle. Therefore, I chanted "Namu Amida Butsu" to Amida Buddha.
Joshinji is a temple of the Jodo sect that was built in the early Edo period. Once every three years, the temple is famous for the event called "Menkaburi," in which Amida Buddha appears wearing Buddhist masks.
After visiting, we visited Todoroki Gorge, Noge Otsuka Burial Mound, Goto Art Museum and so on.
