展示終了後、公開します。
2011年3月11日に世界を震撼させた東日本大震災。この震災は日本だけではなく今回の舞台でもあるカナダでも多く報道され、人々の胸に刻まれること になったと思います。
あれから早や半年が過ぎ去り、日本は表向きにはこれまでの生活を取り戻しつつあるように報じられています。しかし、実際のところその道のりはまだまだ遠く険しいものです。
震災から半年がたつ日本は、被災したものと被災しなかった者の2つに別れつつあり、それらをつなぐ手立てを国の主導ではなく、個々人が模索しながら活動を行っています。
また、被災したものを何とか助けようとする動きは、日本国内にとどまらず世界中で今も活発に続けられています。
このたび、我々NIMOはドラード国際芸術文化連盟と共同し、ここカナダ・トロントで現在の日本の状況を伝えるべく大規模な展覧会を行います。参加するの はNIMO、ドラード所属アーティストを含め約90人からの日本人アーティスト。更には地元トロントのアーティストの協力を得て総勢100-120人に上 ります。
アーティストは元来、社会的変化に対してとても敏感に反応し、そこから作品を作ることでその意を世間に表明します。またアーティスト同士の交流はラディカルに働き、時に一大ムーブメントとなり、地域レベルから世界レベルへと物事を押し上げる切欠になることさえあります。
震災後の日本を体感し、生き延びてきたアーティストたちは我々に何を見せてくれるでしょうか？
そういったアーティストたちが、ひとつのテーマ「再生」を元に、地元カナダのアーティストを迎えることは、互いに化学変化を起こし日本の再生にとどまらず、真なる意味での再生を我々に提示してくれることでしょう。
HEME – “REGENERATE”
On the 11th March 2011, the earthquake in Northeast Japan shocked people all over the world. This disaster was reported not only in Japan but also all over the world, including in Germany, and it remains deep in everyone’s memories.
Time has passed and it has already been more than 6 months since the disaster, and the media reports as though the situation has been getting better and better and it appears as if things are back to normal. In reality, Japan still has a long way to go, and for some victims, they still have not been able to take even the first step of the long road to recovery.
Since the disaster, the distinction between the affected people and not-affected people has arisen. People have begun finding the way to reconnect these two separated groups of people, not through the initiatives of governments, but individually.
To report the situations in Japan more accurately, NIMO is now holding a large exhibition in Toronto, Canada that consisting of around 90 Japanese artists, with a corporation of Dorado International Artists Association and Canadian local artists at Toronto.
We believe artists are inspired by social changes, which they use to express their views to the public; and through dialogue and exchange of opinions, radical development can often lead to big movements and the issue can spread from local to worldwide.
What can the artists who survived the disaster show us from what their life has become after the earthquake?
The Local Canadian artists and Japanese Artists will gather at this exhibition under a theme of “Regenerate”. This international integration will present an idea towards “regeneration” in a true sense.
