It is understood that the Russian composer and pianist Nikolai Medtner was born in Moscow in 1880 and spent his later years in London. His works are said to continue the tradition of Romanticism, and are characterised by their unique and beautiful melodies and rich harmonies.
He had the privilege of studying at the Moscow Conservatory, and his legacy includes numerous masterpieces, such as piano sonatas that require advanced performance techniques and compositions reminiscent of 'fairy tales' due to their narrative content. His music has been described as introspective and beautiful, as if one were reading a poem, and as having a deep emotional resonance.
