Third day Report.
It was the first day of school. It was drizzling in the morning but fined up later.
Machiko and myself met the students at school. We spoke about what they did on Sunday. Everyone had a good time with their host families. A couple of students were homesick but the host mothers consoled them.
Everything is okay.
At the morning assembly we were introduced to the students of the school.
We listened to the Australian National Anthem and we sang the Japanese National Anthem.
During the morning session we decorated our classroom with a map of Japan, a cherry blossom and other Japanese items. It looks very nice and we are very proud of the classroom.
We want to introduce our Japanese culture to the students and show them how we live.
Many Australian students were eager to look at what we had done to the classroom.
At lunchtime our students and our Australian friends played together.
It was pleasing to see how well they mixed together even though they couldn’t speak each others, language .
After lunchtime we visited every classroom to say HELLO.
Each class invited us to join in their lessons and we could see how they did their work.
We had such a nice afternoon with them.
Tonight I received a phone call from two students who were a little home sick but after speaking to the host mother and the students everyone was happy again.
I wish to thank the host mother for her concern and calling me to keep me informed about the children.
今日は学校初日。
７時ごろ小雨が降っていたがお昼にはやんでいた。
朝の朝礼で私達の事を紹介してくれた。その後オーストラリアの国歌を聞いた。そして次に日本の国歌が流れた。オーストラリアと日本の国歌の曲調の違いにちょっぴり戸惑った。。。
その後教室に帰り、ひとり一人の週末の報告と今の気持ちをビデオに撮った。夜中に作業をして保護者に送らなきゃ・・
そして、ここにいる事の意味を子供達に話した。どこまで伝わったかは不明だけどいつかここにいる事の意味を知る日が来るはず！！
午前中は、部屋の飾りをした。私達が作った日本のインフォメーションMAPを現地の子が廊下を通る度に立ち止まり見てくれた。
お昼は！びっくりな事にみんなが現地の子に混じり遊んでいる姿を見て正直おどろいた。今年は小さい子が多く心配な事が多かったがみんなそれぞれにもの凄く楽しんでいたのです。鬼ごっこをするもの、バスケやサッカーを楽しむもの、散歩にいこうと誘われ散歩に行くもの・・・それぞれが現地の子との時間を有意義に過ごしていた。
午後からは全クラスにご挨拶に行った。明日から本格的に始るレッスンに向けての準備は整った。
夜に電話が一本かかってきた。ホームシックになったホストマザーからだった。
自分の娘の様に可愛がってくれている彼女に心の底から感謝をしている。
生徒とも話少し落ち着いたようだ。
今は家が恋しくて泣いている。でも帰る頃にはホストが恋しくて泣くんじゃないかな？
さぁ帰る日のカウントダウンは始った。少しでも多くの経験をして帰って欲しい。頑張れ！子供達よ。
