４月の半ばにオーストラリアのNSWで山火事がありました。日本ではあまり報道されていませんでしたが・・・
沢山の生徒が今迄ホームスティプログラムでオーストラリアに行き沢山の素晴らしいホストファミリーに会い、数えきれない程の素敵な経験をさせてもらいました。
ELS21では何か私達に出来る事はないかな？と考え募金活動を教室内で始めました。
沢山の生徒・ご家族の方が協力してくれました。
子供がお世話になった国だからと10000円も寄付して下さるご家庭が２件ありました。
自分の貯金箱を持って来てくれた生徒さんもいました。
毎週少しずつお小遣いを持って来てくれる子もいます。
そんなみんなの思いが詰まったお金はこの夏直接オーストラリアに持っていき子供達の思い、寄付してくれたみんなの写真を付けて届けてきたいと思います。
一人では何も出来ないけれどみんなで力を合わせれば少しでも助けになるかもしれない。
現在40000円近くのお金が集まりました。
生徒や保護者の皆様にはいくら集まりどのように届けたかをきっちりホームスティ後に報告します。
何人かの生徒にとってはオーストラリアが第２の故郷の様に思っている子もいます。
ELSの生徒には自国だけでなく他国のことを考えたり心配したり思いやったり助けたい！という気持ちを持ってもらいたいと思っています。
写真は今真弓が持っている分だけなので全てではありません。増えた分は又追加しますね。

I am very thankful to all of my students and their extended families for giving so generously to my small appeal regarding the bush fires in New South Wales, Australia. Although it was not big news in Japan everyone who has experienced the welcome we get each homestay trip was happy to give back as a thank you for their life experience. I was very touched by each donation both small and large. Everything helps and to think of others is very important part of growing up.
I will take the donations with me to Australia and give it directly the bush fire brigade so it can be used directly by those most in need. I have taken many pictures to pass on to the center of all the children who donated. So far we have collected over 40,000 yen but I will give full update before I leave with the complete total. I will find out what it will be spent on and report back after our trip.
It is lovely that so many people have given and I am very touched by this. Some of my students feel that Australia is like a second home to them. It is a wonderful thing to hear.
