As you know some very big earthquakes have hit the Kumamoto area in southern Japan. There has been a lot of damage and many people have had to evacuate their homes. Nights are still cold and some people are living in their cars as it is safer for them. There are also still many aftershocks.

I have been thinking what we can do for them at ELS21. I announced to all my students, their parents, other teachers and staff about making donations.
I have prepared a nice piggy bank for them. It looks like an old style of Japanese telephone. When you put money in it, it rings and plays music.

With the donations I would like to give something to everyone who has had trouble.
I don't think we will collect a lot of money. However I think even a small amount will be helpful.

It is good for my students to think about other and understand even if they can not directly help someone even a small amount of kindness goes a long way.

We will collect for two or three weeks then I will pass it on to the Red Cross. I will tell ELS21 members how much we have collected and keep a proper record of the donations.
