Every year on 31st of December, I’d spend the evening watching ‘Kohaku’ with my family back in Malaysia. I remember falling asleep to the sound of Japanese music and towards the end of the program, everyone coming together to sing the final song. My father would usually carry me up to my room when I was smaller and lighter and turned on my favorite story on an audiobook. The name of the fairy-tale is called ‘The BFG’ or The Big Friendly Giant. This is what makes my night so magical and dreamy. This personal ritual of mine is what makes my New Year exceptional.
