お友達からロゼールをたくさんいただきました。
大きなザルに3つ分もあって洗っても洗ってもまだある感じです。ローゼルはオクラみたいな花が咲いた後につく実なのだそう。

ローゼルとハイビスカスは花の形が似ていて、またローゼルから作ったお茶を一般的にハイビスカスティーと呼んでいることから、両者を混同することが多々あるようです。ですが、ローゼルとハイビスカスは違い、別の植物です。

実は剥いてみるとこんな感じで、食べるのは外側の赤いところだけで中の緑の部分は種なので食べないのだそう。



なんでこんなちょっとだけの部分を皆さん食べてるのかしら?と思って調べてみたら

1. Menstrual Pain

– Provides relief from cramps and menstrual pain

Hibiscus inhibits the production of amylase, which helps in the absorption of carbohydrates and starch, so drinking hibiscus tea prevents that absorption from occurring. Therefore, hibiscus tea is found in many weight loss products.
