as the dictionary is very helpful
especially for those learning interpretation
and wanting to expand their vocabulary.
Although most dictionaries we use are sorted
by alphabetical order,
this dictionary is compiled by the field.
You will be able to learn both English and Japanese
for the genres including
environment, education, politics, telecommunication etc.
It doesn't just give translation for a word
but also definition and additional explanation
for technical jargons.
I normally consult this dictionary
when I have work in a new field
and try to learn listed words
in oder to get ready for my interpretation.

Here is a well-known "Eijiro" CD-ROM dictionary.
It is such a great help for a translator.
Fast, covenient and lots of translation examples.
When I translate academic text,
Eijiro is my indispensable partner.
I love a portable electric dictionary
because it is very easy to use,
but words listing can sometimes be quite limited
and it may not have new words.

On the other hands, Eijiro is expanding daily
and now 3rd edition is available
from ALC home page

This dictionary started first at ALC site
and tranlators played major roles
creating and expanding the on-line dictionary.
It is always possible to use Eijiro on-line,
which I often do,

and see how wonderful Eijiro is.
I have't found better dictionary for translation yet.

or
Genius (ジーニアス英和大辞典）
