Yes those are.ってどうでしょう。

瞬間英作文をちょっとやってみましたが、中学英語をぼろぼろ間違えたり、疑問がわいてきたりして新鮮です。
いきなり最初のところで疑問がでてきました。

Are those girls high school students? Yes, they are.

この答のYes they are.　ですが、Yes those are. ではだめなのでしょうか。
意味は普通に通じると思いますが、普通に使われているかの問題かと思います。

Wordreferenceのサイトに同じような疑問があがっていました。

Are the answers "Yes, those are."/"Yes, that is." natural? I know we can say "Yes, they are."/"Yes, it is.". But I wonder if the answers like in the above examples are natural too.

X) Yes, those are (kites).
Y) Yes that is (a kite).

とかも普通に言うよ、という回答と、普通は、those とかthatは繰り返さないね、という回答の両方がありました。
