名詞の格

名詞の格（Case）には主格(Nominative Case)・所有格(Possesive Case)・目的格（Objective Case）の3つがあるが、主格と目的格は常に同形である。

所有格―(1)　無生物につく-'s

1)　国名など　国名のほか例はさまざまであるが、一般に文語的になる。

The expression 'England's history' indicates that the name of the country is somewhat personified.

2)　時間･距離を表す語

What's today's menu ?　（きょうの献立は何ですか）

3)　慣用句

I was at my wits' end (=at a loss) trying to borrow money.
