お盆の効用
皆様こんにちは、台風に翻弄されるお盆になりました。皆様は、いかがお過ごしでしょうか。
私は、お墓参りもお盆の前に終えておりますので、やるべき事に向き合っています。
思い出せば、子供の頃のお盆は、ひっきりなしに来客があり台所でずっとお手伝いしていました。本当に嫌だったなぁ。（女中じゃないんだよね。💢）その分、いまはラクチンです。
お盆と正月は、どこに行っても混んでいる時期。出かける勇気は無く、涼みながらお盆の由来を調べてみました。

お盆の由来
お盆は、仏教で行われる盂蘭盆会（うらぼんえ）の略称。この言葉の語源は、サンスクリット語の「ウランバーナ（逆さに吊り下げられた苦しみ）」です。
盂蘭盆会の由来は、釈迦（しゃか）の弟子である目連尊者の話にあります。目連尊者の母親は、彼に対する溺愛から他の人々の苦しみに無関心でした。そのため、彼女は亡くなった後に餓鬼道と呼ばれる苦しむ世界に落ちてしまいます。彼女は逆さに吊るされ、食べ物と飲み物が全て火に変わり、飢えと渇きに苦しむことになりました。
目連尊者は神通力を持っており、母親の苦しみを目にしました。彼はお釈迦様に相談し、母親を救う方法を教えてもらいました。お釈迦様の助言に従い、目連尊者は夏の修行の終わりである旧暦の7月15日に僧侶たちを集め、供物を捧げることで母親を供養することにしました。
その供養のおかげで、母親は極楽浄土へと生まれ変わることができたと伝えられています。この日は「解夏（げげ）」と呼ばれ、お盆として日本の文化の中で継承されるようになりました。
お盆は、先祖を敬い、供養するために行われる特別な期間となっています。この時期には、墓参りや家族の再会、供物の準備などが行われ、先祖や故人との絆を大切にする日々となります。
☝️何ですって。
だけど、亡くなった方が供養されないといけないなんて誰が思いついたんだろう。（誰がみてきたの？目連尊者の話は別として）しかも供養する事で、幾分ラクになるのは現在進行形で生きている私たちに対する心理的効用じゃないのか？
そう考えてみると
亡くなった方に向けての懺悔期間がお盆のようにも思えます。
そういう時間も必要な事ですよね。
お盆の効用は、亡くなった方を偲び
また、生き方を学び
今現在の自分の人生を
より楽しく充実させるかを考える
大切な時間なのですね。
