My name is Elise and I am a graduate student at Illinois State University in the United States. I am working on my Master's thesis about the Japanese language and tattoo culture. I recently noticed a new word in Japanese, tatū (タトゥー). I was wondering if anyone has any information about this new word whether it has to do with gender, age (20s-30s), if it is a part of the kawaii culture, etc. I would be appreciative of any answers given! Also if you are not from Japan but know of this, it is fine, just let me know that you are not from there.
