What is PCB Board?
The name of the circuit board: PCB board,aluminum based board, high frequency board, PCB, ultra-thin circuit board, ultra-thin circuit PCB boards, printed-circuit board (copper etching technology). The circuit board makes circuit mini and visualized, which plays an important role for the mass production of fixed circuit and the optimization of electrical equipments layout.
Components of PCB Board
The circuit board is mainly composed by the pads, vias, mounting holes, wires, components, connectors, padding, and electrical boundary, etc. Those components are of the following major functions:
Pad: is used to weld metal holes of component pin.
Vias: There are metal vias and nonmetallic vias. The metal vias are used to connect component pins between the layers.
Mounting holes: is used to fix the circuit board.
Wire: is used to connect the electrical network copper film of component pin.
Connector: is used to connect components between circuit boards.
Padding: is used for copper pour of ground wire network, which can effectively reduce the impedance.
Electrical boundaries: is used to determine the size of the circuit board because all the components of the circuit board cannot exceed the border.
Classification of Circuit Board
Circuit Board systems are classified into the following three types:
Single Sided PCB Boards
On the basic PCB board, components focus on one side, and wires concentrate on the other side. That is because wires appear only on one side. Thus we call this PCB single-sided board. Single sided PCB boards suffer strict limit on lines design (there is only one side and wires can not intersect so that they have to go alone in the path). As a result, only the early circuit applied such a board.
Double Sided PCB Board
There are wires on both sides of such a circuit board. In order to make full use of wires on both sides, there must be appropriate circuit connection on both sides. The "bridge" between these circuits is called via. Via is a small metal hole filled or coated with metal on the PCB board. It can be connected to wires on both sides. Since the area of double board is twice larger than that of single board, and wires can be intertwined (around to the other side), it is more suitable for use in complex circuit than a single sided PCB board.
Multilayer PCB Board
Under a more complex application requirement, the circuit can be arranged into a multi-layer structure and pressed together on a multilayer PCB board, and through-hole circuit can be built between layers to connect circuit.
