Muscle tissue burns calories - much more so than fat does. It's true and you should use this fact to help you lose more and more calories and therefore fat tissue.. Pumping iron has significant weight loss benefits due to this physical phenomenon. The more muscle you have, the more you can eat and the more calories you will burn. Fat is not active tissue - it is inert which means that it does not do anything. Muscle needs energy to sustain it and therefore burns calories to make this energy. When you replace the fat with muscle, your body becomes a more efficient machine - you lose calories and then you lose weight. It is amazing really. A weight loss diet accompanied not only by aerobic exercise but including weight training will cause the body to lose more fat. Muscle increases the body's metabolism, even while resting, so eventually you can become slim by doing even less. Perhaps anyhow.
