I’m just finishing up an email at the moment.：今ちょうどメール１通書き上げようとしているところなの。
at the moment は「今ちょうど」 とか「～しようとしていた矢先に」いう意味で、［今の状況］を伝えるフレーズです。今回のように「今まさに何かをしようとしている ＝ 今、手が離せない」というニュアンスで使うことができます。

at the moment には「今の状況」を伝えるだけでなく、「ここのところ」とか「最近は」と自分の近況を伝えるときにも使うことができます。

日本人にも馴染み深い Just a moment.「ちょっと待ってて」というフレーズで使われている moment には「今、現在」とか「ある特定の時点」など［瞬間を表す］意味なので at the moment で「現時点では」とか「ちょうどやろうとしていた矢先」などの意味で使うことができます。また at the moment には 「ここのところ」とか「最近は」と自分の現況を伝えるときにも使うことができます。
at the moment には［この先の未来にはどうなっているかか分からない］というニュアンスが含まれます。
同じ［今］を表す now もありますが at the moment のほうが フォーマルな感じがあり、now よりも少し短い［今］を表す時に使われることが多いです。また now には［今すぐ］というニュアンスが含まれるので Come here now! 「今すぐここに来なさい！」とは言えますが Come here at the moment !と言うことはできません。
